delboy2k10: As you can see by my posts I have been a long stayer for Game to remain OPEN as highstreet to me is important.
Speaking as someone who only has a PC for gaming, the highstreet doesn't matter a damn. :P But yeah, I suppose that it would have a knock on effect of seeing more titles go digital only in the UK and thus side-lining Play, Amazon etc's PC games selection, much like what happened with the high street before it.

So yeah. not important in and of itself. Not at all. But it's important to hold on to it to stop things getting worse elsewhere.
To be honest, I don't give a damn about Game or Gamestation and my only sympathy is for the poor people losing their jobs.

What annoys me about this is that they've bloody taken gameplay.co.uk with them. Gameplay used to be a really good store and they were bought out by Game relatively recently and merged into Gamestation even more recently (just before it became completely obvious they were doomed). =(
I Was at game today, shops are all closed and no stock visible, the staff were given no notice or redundancy payment, if they re-open I will never buy anything there again, it's disgusting how the staff were treated.
In the end my thoughts are with the staff - not management as I have said many times in this thread

The Importance of the store is personal and also mentione din this thread - mostly because of collectors editions and expensive items as seeing before buying is important to me

Not sure how many this effects, but I have bought manay a colelctors edition based on an Internet Picture only to get a substandard item, or something that is not fit for purpose.

A phot can be retouched and seeing the item first hand is so much better

As a commodity - the collapse in the UK of Game would have been like the collapse 2 years ago of Woolworth - a very big deal

As for the management - those I have no sumpathy for - I do though for the general staff who must have had so much pressure on them the last few weeks

To all - those are my comments in a nutshell really :-)

Thats what I like about forums and people here - such educated answers - brilliant :-)
