To celebrate:

1. The Hero-U Kickstarter getting half-way;
2. Me reaching 200 reputation points (I assume the congratulations cookies are in the mail); and
3. Me recently completing Eschalon Book 1 which was gifted to me by another very generous gog member (and I found to be very enjoyable).

I am proposing to gift someone a game with a value up to $9.99.

All you need to do is give a long or short reason why you like any or all of the Quest for Glory games.

The competition will be open for approximately 24 hours and the winner will be drawn randomly.

Good luck!!

And if you like, support the Hero-U kickstarter from the makers of Quest for Glory!!!!

I'm in. I like the Quest For Glory games because in these games, so many different things can happen to you. It seems the developers put a lot of work into these games to make the world seem alive. So these games are really fun and exciting to play. I also like that these games have been inspired by the mythology of many different peoples. It makes the games more interesting for me.

I really like the QFG games because it was true to the Sierra type point and click adventure games with the good story, graphics (for their time), and humour. They also had that RPG feel of choosing a class and having different solutions based on that class.
I'm not entering but I hope that whoever wins will ask for the Quest for Glory series, so you can experience the magic firsthand! Those games were a big part of my childhood and nothing has ever quite lived up to their legacy.

Until now.

If you liked QFG, you will love Hero-U. Think about it :)
I like the quest for glory games because they combine 2 of my favorite genres: adventure and rpg. And because they're just awesome.
By reading the title I previously thought you were going to giveaway Hero-U in the future when/if it gets funded :-)

Anyway, I have played all Quest for Glory games (well, for QfG II Trial by Fire, I actually only played the VGA remake by AGDInteractive). I do not have the GOG version though (which I assume already include all the necessary patches), so if it is alright I will participate in this giveaway. So yes, if I win I will ask for Quest for Glory Series.

Copied and pasted from the other thread the other day:
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/so_you_want_to_be_a_hero/post26

QfG I: when visiting Henry the Hermit's cave.
QfG II: when meeting Rakeesh for the very first time.
QfG III: when Harami joined in the fight.
QfG IV: when Toby sacrificed himself for Tanya, and when ... ahem, meeting Rusalka.
QfG 4 1/2: when dating Hilde :-)
QfG V: when eating Ann Agrama's goulash.

Quest for Glory series are unique in experience in that it combines good stories, puzzles, jokes, touching moments, and combats with some lite RPG stats. They are unique in the sense that you can actually feel like saving the world and care for the people there. Love and friendships are strong there. Characters are also great: some are funny, some are weird, some are nice, some are stereotyped, but they are all very much likeable. I really had a sense of playing a hero in this series.

For those of you who have not played this series, give the games a try. You won't regret it.
I just started some days ago playing that first Quest for glory as a thief. Seems really nice game. I have already broken into a house, stolen a candlestick, been eaten by a cat, killed by bandits at night, wondered my blonde hair and listened that repetitive music when stuck and whatever, I thought I should read a manual at some point. =)

What's there not to like, nice hybrid of things. Also that kind of sense of humour what that has going on is always welcome in my boring apartment and life.

Thanks for the opportunity, dude.
As I stated in previous QFG topics. I haven't played the game much, but I remember playing it with a friend in the good old days, and it's been haunting me ever since. I'm hoping to finally get the chance to play them myself. I love adventures, I love RPG's. To have them combined is divine!

Thanks for the giveaway, and good luck to all contestants (even though I hope I'll win ;-) )
I liked QFG II game because of it's oriental theme andd humanoid animals and part IV because of it's music (I could mixed up those parts, as I played QFG games so long ago).
I didn't play much (only played the third game, Wages of War) but I can say that it's a good hybrid game combining adventure and rpg elements. I also liked the glorious looking VGA graphics of the game, a huge update from previous games.
I will admit that I'm not that familiar with the series however I remember playing the 3rd game when I was a kid (think I got around halfway through it with the help of my dad)

I remember playing other adventure games like Monkey island and Day of the tentacle at the time and being surprised by Quest's for Glory Non-Linear elements and liking the actual gameplay and the jokes

Hopefully someday I will buy the actual QFG pack here on GOG and really get into the series properly

Anyway, thanks for the giveaway, +1 to you

I haven't had the opportunity to start playing the Quest for Glory series (I'm still finishing Tex Murphy: The Pandora Directive) [*] but I love the idea of being able to choose, develop and transfer my own character through the 5 games (something that today we have come to expect from some RPGs, but not in point-and-click Adventures) :)

[*] thanks to K_1269 and lestat666, respectively, for the chance of playing them! :)

I like the mythological setting and atmosphere.
I know them only by reputation. They come from the golden era and are made of gold.
Thanks everyone for your comments. So many great responses, many smiles. I'm glad I am choosing a winner at random and not having to pick the best one :)
