Do you guys remember this ? 1€ ≠ 1$ ?

Now we have this : European Commission: Allow all EU Steam users to purchase products in the UK Steam Store.
I can't sign that, I make all my purchases in pound sterling... The thought is good, I would like to get rid of 1$ = 1£, but some of the wording of that letter is just a little off for me.
Yes exactly one of the many points where Steam "overwrites" European laws and (almost) nobody cares.
This petition won't change a thing I suppose, but the idea is good.
The EU has other problems right no, methinks. But well, at least its a start.

The easier part is to boycott steam as much as possible, buy from Amazon.co.uk and just type in the Steam Code Activation.
It's just horrible that so many excellent publishers want Steam for DRM.

Amazon want sell to me either. At least Steam want my money

(and yes, I know you can buy there as long as you are giving false address, but I still do not want to commit fraud for buying games.... Yes, I know I am weird)

That's because the rest don't offer the same Steam does. You may hate the DRM aspect of it, but the benefits they offer to developers are pretty good, and they have a lot of praise for it.
Why just euro to uk? Why not also UK to Euro?

I support it anyway
Didn't Valve just ignore that German group when they were contacted about the EULA change?

If Valve won't respond to that, an online petition will likely go nowhere with them.

It sucks, but when a company has a stranglehold on the digital market for PC, and consumers seem all to willing to let them have a larger one, there is little that can be done.

Well they ignore my ramblings about their false usage of FSK and PEGI rating, that's for sure.

It's not that Germany hasn't a strong consumer market concerning videogames. In fact we pay more than most Europeans I presume.
But the majority of us Krauts seem either uninterested or uninvolved.
For shame...

The petition addresses the EC, not Valve. Best case senario, Valve would have to respond to the EC - would they ignore EC?

EDIT: missed the s in respond.

Signed.
I wonder if this would sprout a petition for every single company that does this. The EC will love that :)
