Im looking for a game which the name eludes me so i will try to describe it as best as possible. It is a turn based strategy game along the lines of Risk (the board game). You pick from one of several leaders/emperors, and then would be thrown into a world where you would try to take land and such to build up your empire. All the while you had hero's that you could send out on special quests to level or sometimes bring back items, or in bad cases die miserably. When you would attack another emperors keep you would be thrown into a battleground where you would control a hero and along with an army thus attacking the keep.
My first thought was Stronghold, but the more I thought...

Could it be Lords of the realm

No its not, either, thanks again.
Any idea how old it is (or when you played/saw it)?
2D/3D?
Any visual details you could remember (such as "I remember there was a snowy castle" or anything of the sort)?
The more details you can give, the easier it'll be to find. Even stuff like "in the castle siege battles, there were catapults" could turn out to be significant.

I know its old mid 90s i would say when i played it. You needed to research spells, and such. As far as the battles, most of your men looked exactly like each other minus your hero which had a different look to them. I remember being able to run around the keep, while archers shot at you, but i cant really remember if there were siege weapons. I believe i remember one of the emperors looking like a white wizard type old dude, and the hero's i remember an elf and a hobbit like dude. it was 2d and i dont remember there being any naval components to it. im sorry this is all so vague. its been almost 20 years since ive played it haha.

27, so not much younger haha
