Fellow GOGgers, we seek your aid! In order to improve downloads as much as possible, we would like you to participate in a little test. Don't worry, it won't take too much of your time and you can get free stuff in the process. :)

Here's the deal. Before you start downloading, please check your connection's speed. Ideally, you should use a service like Speedtest. We will also need to know where you live (the country will be enough - the state could be useful as well if you're from the US of A), but that's an easy one, right?

Now try downloading the files from the links below, one at a time. Keep downloading until your download speed stabilizes (usually no more than a minute) and write down the result. Rinse and repeat for each link:
LINK 1,
LINK 2,
LINK 3,
LINK 4.

Afterwards please share the results, along with your connection speed and location, in a reply to this thread. Please refrain from chatter and comments, unless you experienced problems with any of the links or the download speed wasn't consistent. In case of inconsistent download speeds, please give us a rough average, rather than "from-to" brackets.

To sweeten the deal, we've got promo codes for one free game waiting for 10 lucky participants (one code each). :)

Just so we're all on the same page, the reply should look like the example below.

Connection speed: 13.5 Mbps
Location: Poland
LINK 1: 950 kB/s
LINK 2: 850 kB/s (inconsistent)
LINK 3: 870 kB/s
LINK 4: N/A (couldn't start download)

I got some problems with my connection so it's 10x slower than it should be. Should provide for interesting results.

Connection speed: 1.35 Mbps
Location: Finland
LINK 1: 140 kB/s (inconsistent)
LINK 2: N/A (couldn't start download)
LINK 3: N/A (couldn't start download)
LINK 4: N/A (couldn't start download)

Just LOL at that. I'll post later if I can get the connection fixed.
Connection Speed: 6.42 mbps
Location: New Zealand
LiNK 1: 400 kbps
LINK 2: 450 kbps
LINK 3: 465 kbps
LINK 4: 495 kbps

These are averages, none of the downloads ever quite stabalized completely.
Connection speed: 94.87 Mbps (44,76 Mbps to Warsaw)
Location: Norway
LINK 1: 6,1 MB/s
LINK 2: 5,0 MB/s
LINK 3: 766 kB/s
LINK 4: 6,0 MB/s (inconsistent)

Connection speed: 91.50 Mbps *
Location: Romania
LINK 1: 750 KB/s
LINK 2: 850 KB/s
LINK 3: 890 KB/s
LINK 4: 800 KB/s (inconsistent)

* the connection speed for RO is a bit irrelevant as the test server is on the same network as myself so it's LAN speeds.

Speed test to Warsaw server: 6.29 Mbps.

I think that it's best to set a standardized server against which to test the speed as to avoid the situation I'm in for example.
