Can believe I forgot E0. Another quality game from that mad bastard Kenji Eno at Warp. Why is he mad? To promote E0 he sent all reviewers a packet of Warp Curry!
demo it up
Republic isn't really an RTS is it? It's more like a board game. I think it mostly plays out on the map, with the 3d engine mostly there for eyecandy.

cioran: There are other quite notable franchises besides RE and SH (Fatal Frame, Clock Tower) that have extremely unique styles.

Clock Tower is indeed an innovative and beautiful survival. I've discovered the series some years ago while playing a fan-translated version of the first game on SNES. When you play this game, you really understand what "survival" really means in a video game.
Clock Tower was so great. I haven't gotten around to the later installments yet, although Clock Tower 3 (which is actually like... the fifth game or something) seems kinda ridiculous.
But my favorite survival horror game is still the original Alone in the Dark. The series has been pretty weak for a long time, but the original game, despite its amusingly primitive graphics, is still a first-rate low-key creepfest.

bansama: Ok, I've decide I'm going to buy one game off of GOG today and have narrowed it down to two choices:
Republic: The Revolution
Obscure

Had a new idea, you buy obscure, you buy me republic and we can tell each other how the games are?
Haha! I may as well buy both for me in that case >_>
Well I tired the demos for both of them and could see myself enjoying them both so that didn't really help in making a choice =/ Republic is most certainly a slow moving game. And the fact that time doesn't stop while reading objectives gets annoying as they seem to always vanish off screen before I really have time to read the information. But I kind of like the overly complex GUI.
The controls for Obscure aren't as bad as I thought they would be although the camera angles can be annoying (but that's par for the course in that genre of game). It also suffers from the not enough ammo for my liking phenomena but I suppose a trainer could help fix that one =).
So I think as I've put off getting Obscure for so long, I'll get that first then go for Republic at a later date.
