It was an older game from late 80's or early 90's. RPG of a spellcaster genere. You had to combine your ingrediants to make your spells and increase the ingrediants to make stronger spells but like all experimentation things go wrong and you could die. However you are sent to deaths realm to collect ingrediants there and work yourself back to the living realm by defeating bad guys. I cant remember the name of the game but I remember the basic base ingrediants was Candles, Stones, ? , and the catalyst.
Powders was the ? also.

I don't remember dying (as such) in Discworld II, though that does sound akin to Pratchett's style of humour. I should probably replay the game, I have it set up to run in ScummVM. :P
it was just a guess
Spellcraft for SNES? That's what Google is telling me at least.

Wanna what what I like about 2012?

I never heard of this game and it looks pretty friggin' sweet for a SNES title.

But auction sites searching I do not

For I know this game is tucked away somewhere on my drive, right at this very moment, in my ZSNES folder.

Here's the DOS version (and before anyone goes ape shit - check the site's large banner at the top of the screen for their biggest sponsor. ).
