Occasionally you see forums with people who get very upset about games for various reasons. I find this a little puzzling as I have never bought game and been overly surprised by its content. You would think a person would just not buy games that might bother them. But maybe I am wrong. Has anyone here been offended by a game (aside from maybe how badly done it was...)

No. I've never been offended by a game but I'm sure there are games out there that I do not know of that would make me very upset.

A Farewell to Dragons.
That came's controls and camera offended me.
Offensive to my tastes? Plenty. Offensive to my person, none at all.
Not with violence, I tend to see that stuff as animal impulse outlets that don't really bother me and are actually good for society in a weird way. Can anyone say we are more violent now than we were before violent media came about? Every metric proves that wrong.

I have been offended by sexist stuff on occasion. The whole "bikini armor" thing is especially stupid and pandering. Then again in a weird way we don't let women characters in game be sexual enough in different ways, i.e. enjoying it or using it to get what they want (which happens in real life all the time). Instead they just behave like male fantasies of chaste yet revealing women who only want to please YOU.

We have a very immature view of women's sexuality in almost all forms of media.
Yoda Stories.
Well, I find it offensive that SC2 and D3 both eliminated LAN play and that D3 completely eliminated single player stand alone play, does that count?
No.

Now give me Super Manhunt 3: Turbo Hot Coffee Edition Deluxe.

Fuzzyfireball: No.

Now give me Super Manhunt 3: Turbo Hot Coffee Edition Deluxe.
Collectors edition comes with a rubber fist.
Custer's Revenge

"In the game, the player controls the character of Custer, depicted as a man wearing nothing but a cavalry hat, boots and a bandana, sporting a visible erection. Custer has to overcome arrow attacks to reach the other side of the screen. His goal is to have sex with a naked Native American woman tied to a pole."

Piemaster: Yoda Stories.
Take it back.

Now.

Take it back. That game was AWESOME!
No, actually I tend to get a bit annoyed when people get offended by games. They take it way too seriously and i feel that an industry based on fun should not be taken too seriously or take itself too serious. Unfortunately it's going the wrong way and how bigger it gets how more serious it becomes and they tend to lose the fun-dementals. You can't get really creative if you have to think about every decision if you are gonna get suit or not....

(And i feel the same way about stand up comedy)

The bikini armour thing has never really bothered me like that. I personally don't see how women are any more sexualised in this regard than men are in terms of going into battle with nothing on except a six-pack, bulging biceps and a fucking great broadsword.

What's bothered me more about this kind of outcry is the fact that there didn't seem to be much of an uproar about the earlier Tomb Raider games, which sexualised Lara Croft with her tits and her sensual groaning to the point of ridicule. As the TR series has gone on, she's taken on somewhat more realistic proportions, and has become a more fleshed-out personality.
Not really. In the first place, it takes a lot to actually offend me. Excessive violence or sex won't do it, and I'll just be annoyed by stuff like sexism, racism or other forms of stupidity.
I tend to get over even that kind of thing quickly, since there isn't really anything I can do about it.

If I don't like a game's attitude or content, I'll just stop playing and uninstall it.
Then again, games like that are pretty easy to spot even without playing them, so I probably just won't buy it.
Duke Nukem Forever. It wasn't one thing, or even a few things. The package as a whole just offended me for some reason.

I do still really like Duke Nukem 3D, however.
