"On July 27, 2010 we launched StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. We sent Blizzard developers to major launch events in locations spanning the globe including London, Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Moscow, Fountain Valley (near Blizzard HQ), Singapore, Taipei, Mexico, Brazil and Australia. We were grateful for a chance to celebrate the launch with gamers all over the world, but we weren’t out of the woods yet. We watched and worried for the next few days. Was the game good enough to be worthy of the StarCraft name? Would the players like it?

Within the first 48 hours, the game sold over 1.5 million copies, making it the fastest-selling strategy game of all time. Within a week, we finally breathed a sigh of relief, believing that maybe we had created a game that could stand on its own, a game strong enough to carry the StarCraft legacy onward for years to come.

StarCraft is more than just StarCraft II, it is a culture that has been with us for over a decade. It’s a game and a world that we are honored to be part of. We’ve been hard at work making sure that the sequel holds up to the high standard of excellence we’ve set for ourselves. We released 14 patches since the game’s launch, including many small balance adjustments and a ton of improvements too. We’ve added brand-new Battle.net features like the Master and Grandmaster Leagues, custom game improvements, chat channels and more, and we remain hard at work on further improvements.

So, we wish you a happy birthday, StarCraft II. You had an amazing first year, and we’ll do our best to make sure that you’ll have many more great years to come."

Happy birthday, indeed! Also, for those playing league matches, Season 3 officially begins today, and some of the regions have been merged together (Europe + Russia, NA + SA, Asia + Oceania).
Well, happy birthday to Starcraft 2:)

Great game, but I'm also reminded that I haven't actually completed it yet for some reason (actually, too many games is probably the reason).
So it was a year ago that I was standing on Oxford Street for 4 hours straight with a whiny girlfriend in the middle of the night. However, she got me the Collector's Edition as a present! Also got all these other goodies from the launch, was pretty awesome.
A year ago I was so stressed whether my pre-ordered Collector's Edition would come on the first day. Luckily I was one of the first pre-orderers and the shop didn't mess up so I got it, and I played it for 3 days straight (with sleeping, eating, and an occasional walk). I'm still playing it, and even though I'm pretty bad (silver league FTW), I like it.

Beating the last stage on Brutal was so hard, but then the game bugged and it turned easy as my nightmare got stuck on a ramp, so I didn't even have to use the stage specialty once (spoiler free-ish way to say it). I have such fond memories of the 3 times I played the campaign through during the first 2 weeks.

I really love Starcraft 2 :p
and zerglings, climbing up your ramps snatching your builders up.
It's already a year old game O.O

I still haven't had the guts to check it out, it seems so difficult game...
I don't like rts-games, too fast for me.
But diablo 3 could be good if I played that with someone. The first one.. I played that suprisingly many times, usually with my brother or even alone. Quite good indeed.
Diablo 2. Have tried.. Just not gonna happen. Or 3. Those are meant to be played with loved ones or with enemies.. and always take the rings before your brother takes them and makes you pay. Well, I could let the beast eat them and take what is mine.
Edit. Also.. "I'm walking on sunshine aa-aaa.."
Is there in a keyboard note-mark.. if it is, haven't seen one.

The ladder games are highly competitive, and require a lot of knowledge and possibly even skills (in the higher leagues) to win (or so I've heard). The single player and custom maps have a varying difficulty. If you play the single player campaign on easy, there's not much of a challenge, Normal can offer hairy moments if you don't know what you're doing, Hard puts up a fight, and Brutal knocks you out and kicks you while you're down. There are also co-op against AI of chosen difficulty modes, playing ladder games as a party, etc.
Cant believe it has been a year since was released. Good game which i was glad they didnt change the formula too much from the original.
It was a disappointment for me and I was really looking forward to it. I loved the original but the almost complete lack of changes was a disappointment (Not even a defend button for escort missions etc....) I also didn't get embroiled in the story and the world like I did Number 1. As for online it's the same old rush kinda system that lasts all of 5 minutes.... I much prefer protracted conflicts like Supreme Commander 1 & 2 provide.
I think it's about time they lowered the price on it. I might buy it if it ever drops to $20... so probably in 3 years or something.
Great game ! :D
For those who don't know, Totalbiscuit and Khaldor are hosting a Starcraft 2 Anniversary tournament right now on Justin TV - Click here.

It started litterally 20 minutes ago.

Happy Birthday Starcraft 2!

Quick question, if you purchase StarCraft II through Battle.Net, how much does it go for? I've put off trying this title out for far too long.
