Maighstir: The future is always unforeseeable, isn't it? You never know what will happen, even if you may think something will happen and said thing may be very likely and, in due time, even be proven a correct guess.
I was just wishing GOG.com a happy 5 year birthday while also being a little bit sarcastic at the same time due to my disappointment with their stance on not supporting Linux, that's all. I did not really give much thought when I posted that :-)
Happy Birthday, GOG! Thanks for making me waste all that money. =P

Heard some rumblings about this new DRM-free site in '08 on a forum of fellow Mac-heads (before I switched to Win-only again, which I haven't regretted at all), and decided to check it out. Descent 1+2 was my first purchase - highly recommended to anyone who likes action games - and it's probably still one of my best choices. ;) I very much enjoyed seeing GOG branching out into newer/indie games territory while still sticking to old game releases as well.

I'm quite curious what the future will hold in store for GOG. As long as the (my preferred single-player) games remain DRM-free, I'll be sticking around.

TheEnigmaticT: We will actually be starting our celebrations from Monday. ;)
Yippee! ;-)

And Happy 1/2 Decade Birthday!

And I'm just rambling. Don't take me all too seriously. :-)

I had bought a new computer and I started playing The Witcher. A friend of my brother recommended it and I grew to love the game a lot. Then after I finished it, I read that The Witcher 2 would be released within half a year or so. I was even more excited. CD Projekt Red then told fans to sign up to GOG and buy it from there as they would get the most revenue and it had the most digital goodies. It made me set up a paypal account and join GOG. You can tell I signed up with GOG at the release month of TW 2.
Then GOG converted me to a DRM free fanatic and also from being a pirate to a consumer. With 40+ titles in my account, I'm a happy GOG member and still to this day a Witcher Fan. :)

What I love about GOG.

- DRM free games
- Actually owning the games
- Goodies
- Lovely community
- Nice Sales
- Interesting games for everyone

Thank you, GOG. Where would I be without you? I play my age of wonders games through PBEM here with a community of 9 people.

Prob will be just some sales
I'm hoping for an announcement that they've signed LUCASARTS, MICROSOFT and TAKE-TWO!

I remember looking on some website with an article about a forthcoming online portal selling drm free games. I pressed the link signed up to the beta and never looked back. Now 5 years later and a lot of old classics back under my games collection i am happy now as i was back then. Roll on next 5 years.
I wonder what the staff will be doing to celebrate.

And also what staff are still at GOG that were there on day one.

joppo: Weirdly enough, I first heard of GOG because of that so criticized stunt they pulled mid-2011 where they pretended to end their activities.

Bavarian: That was in September 2010. Look at my date of registration. Though I heard of GOG before, that stunt draw my attention and I registered.
Whoa, you're right! I can't believe it took me that long to actually create an account. Thanks for the correction.

Thinking again I suppose I may have left GOG alone for several months after that fact and looking at it again for no reason it looked to me like a much smaller timeframe.
Well, I've visited GOG's twitter account - I have no idea why I opened twitter in the first place ;F - and spotted this little thing: https://twitter.com/GOGcom/statuses/378412869039448064 ;)
Happy birthday GOG! And best wishes to all the GOGers out there.
