I bought this just to get the Linux version of Postal 2. Hopefully we reach the 40K goal too.

DNF is awesome from what i've played.....I so wish some players would get hold of the cut content(Via dev cooperation of course) and release it as a a free addon for the current game or something similar.

I don't recall if I've said it or not, but I thought DNF was funny for a bit, but I couldn't stand it. I played on 360 and it runs on Unreal Engine 3. There's no excuse for the complete lack of anti-aliasing, murky textures, crappy AI, what seemed to me like a filter of TV blur (being played on a plasma screen), and even aiming was a chore, because I swear that sometimes the crosshair would stutter, or just wouldn't listen. It was cleaned up by a proven company on an engine built for HD quality FPS games. Seriously.

I liked a few of the jokes, like "balls of fail" and "power armor is for p**sies", but other than that, it just fell flat.

As for the graphics....well they were pressed for time/to release it quickly(I think it was one of the conditions attached to the IP when it was picked up for release.). As such, they worked with what they had, and didn't have much time to redo/recreate the various textures/etc in the game.

And "balls of fail".....gah, that pinball minigame was hard. I found the pool minigame to be much easier, tbh.

I bought it for the Avernum games on Mac but it was sweet to just get Postal 2 for Mac now this morning! Great deal this time around!

Just out of curiosity, is it possible to beat Postal 2 and have fun with it without running amok? Maybe even without resorting to violence, as a challenge? And if so, will there still be a lot of tasteless carnage all around you?

I don't know if standing in line for milk or in a bank is fun, but it's possible. But bank robbery etc etc still happens, so you will have to run away.

People are not killing themselves randomly in that game, but depending on a difficulty level they may be heavily armed :P

But it's not like Postal 1, where everybody wants to see you dead (except for one part of the game) , if that's what you're asking.

I wanted to get this cause I really want to play the Oddworld games again and try the other games as well but as it turns out it really isn't pay what you want with the $4 min, which I am sad to say I can't afford right now.

You can even complete the game as a pacifist, though it does require some creative ambushing in a couple of points. Not sure how much you'd enjoy a pacifist playthrough though.

Well, I've watched another gameplay video and I guess it just isn't for me. :)

Even if he doesn't hurt anyone, the Postal dude still comes across as a major dick in his comments; not my kind of humor. And I mean, kicking the occasional passenger to let out your inner bully is one thing, but one kick and they bleed and scream in agony? Wtf? If there's one guy in the whole game I'd get some satisfaction from kicking it's that misanthropic Postal douche. ;)

Well for some, gaming is all about doing things one would normally never do.....be it due to various limitations or moral objections. ;)

As I recall, the Complete Pack also has multiplayer, thus you will be able to kick Postal Douche :P
I know that this game isn't for everyone, though it is an interesting one. If you change your mind, I think I have a desura key for it, since I a) Do not use Desura and b) Already have it on GOG.com

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that anyone liking this game is antisocial or something. I guess that's fine, if it's your cup of tea. :)

Personally, I just don't really get where the fun is in that. I mean I do things in video games I don't or wouldn't do in real life all the time, and I've got no problem being the bad guy for a change (to a certain extent). Maybe I'd dig the game more if people would just complain about the kicking instead of screaming and bleeding, and if you had just as much freedom to be nice to some or apologize as you've got to hurt them. But the way the Postal dude comes across, it seems you're actually meant to be a dick all the time.

And I still draw a line when something isn't to my taste and completely opposed to what I believe in. I wouldn't want to 'play out' rape in a game either. And I hope it's not just limitations or moral objections that keep me from hurting other people in RL; dunno if that's a enriching or limiting my experience with video games, but I actually feel sympathy and empathy for video game characters, too, if the game is immersive.

The question is: Is it a good game if doesn't evoke any feelings and leaves you cold and indifferent to what's happening. Maybe it is for you, but it's not for me. I'm not mad at the game or trying to dissuade anyone from liking it, I'm just saying it's too tasteless for my taste and I know I wouldn't enjoy it.
