Faithful: Well, the Collectors Edition Manual is a PDF 57 pages long that I think does a very good job of telling you how to play the game. A Murder of Crows adds another manual that is rather short showing the new race, techs, and little changes made to the overall game play.
I have the original game so I also have a printed manual that I do not think is as good as the PDF. Plus, the original game had DRM on it, but the CE version and AMoC are DRM Free. No disk is even needed in the drive! WooHoo! :o)

Damn that's quite a trade-off, having to choose either no DRM with PDF manual, or DRM with cool hard copy manual
I'll look into it anyways. I think I may enjoy SotS. Thanks Faithful!
Here is the link to Lighthouse Interactive that sells their stuff.
Lighthouse Interactive Don't forget to click on Shop and choose Europe or US sales.
Also, the manual is nothing to write home about and the PDF version is better.
If you get it, go for the CE version as you get the first expansion with it.

Just one thing, though - Lighthouse Interactive is bankrupt. They went out of business in january. I don't know if their webshop is still in operation, but it could be a little risky.
Paradox Interactive is the new publisher of the Sword of the Stars-franchise. They have released a bundle of the game and both expansions, but it is currently only available through digital download. It's on both GamersGate and Steam, and maybe other services as well.

Thanks for the update; I did not realize they were no longer selling items. I got A Murder of Crows for Christmas before they must have went out of business.
Looks like it is sold on Gamers Gate, but you can buy everything for $30.00
