bazilisek: Yeah, I still have that track Jane linked to on the development blog some time ago (Safe in Arms); good to know the band's music made it into the game, I really liked it, too. [Incidentally, you may want to check out a band called Monkey Swallows the Universe, in particular their album titled The Bright Carvings; they have a similar sound and are quite amazing. Sadly, they've broken up already.]

And for future reference, the payment went through without a problem, so there is no region lock.
Oooh, thank you much for the recommendation. I'll look into them when I get home tonight. I'm glad the transaction went alright for you. I know sometimes when I travel and try to use things like Steam abroad it gives me issues that my IP doesn't match where my Paypal account is from (which is a bummer but not all sites are silly like Steam with their region locking so I'm happy it worked for you)
Um. Guys?

Walmart is selling this game in the USA... And so is Amazon. Amazon also offers a download version for $5 less.

Thread necro time! I'm about to finish the game. Currently at Chapter 7, and the only reason why I had to stop myself from playing was because I had to wake up early today to write a few essays for my student. Man, is this game compelling. I haven't read the reviews yet, but I will later when I've completed it.

Will post some gold-plated opinions later as well. Meanwhile, does anyone know where I can get the Collector's Edition? It's only sold on Amazon.de. Not even eBay has it.

Wierd stuff. I bought the game about 8 months ago on impulse. It was on sale. Great game! One of the very best adventure games I've played in a VERY long time.

Oh hey, this game.

Finished it a couple of months back. Definitely has its flaws. The, uh, cutscenes are amateurish at best, plot silly in many places and the "oh no no no, you have to click on that precise clump of pixels in that room back there before this chapter can end, but I won't tell you that" syndrome is alive and well. And the ending is just silly and lacking subtelty. Also, good lord, can the characters be any more sluggish? Every time there's a change of direction they have to stop, ponder for a second on this new development, turn slooowly, and hestitantly continue walking - I hate this in adventure games, and it almost made me quit.

Still, I enjoyed it. It can be quite touching if you're not allergic to a bit of melodrama, and the music is indeed soundtrack-buyingly lovely.

It's not a bad game, I just expected something better from the famous Jane Jansen, that's all.
Awww I just finished the game. What a masterpiece. I loved just about everything that people didn't like, well excluding some of the animations. I thought the plot fell into place quite snugly by the end of the story, and though it was very predictable, I still felt very compelled to see it through to the end. The walking/running animations are great too, though I would have ragequitted if I didn't know you could fast forward to an exit. I only found the "last pixel to click on" syndrome in Chapter 7, but that's it, to my relief. The other character animations are lacking though, kinda rough around the edges. The voice acting is overall pretty good, and my only complaint is that the volumes don't seem to be very well-adjusted. The music's also great. I love it. It's suitably pensive without too many emo overtones, and very mellow, without making me fall asleep.

While the best adventure game in recent memory still goes to Gemini Rue, boy, Gray Matter sure strikes a close second place.

PS. I don't get the post-credits ending though. Can someone explain it to me via PM?
I would really love to buy this from GOG.

Dude.... as much as I'd support that this one turns up here, but that's what the wishlist is for...

I just skimmed through this thread thinking *what the hell, that's not a new release. It's been out a while and available cheaper* - damn thread necros. :p
Edith said: I just saw that you actually voted for it - which makes it even worse. :) However, you can get it DRM free off Gamersgate for about 9 bucks right now.

I found Gray Matter to be quite good. Very strong atmosphere. Not as good as Gabriel Knight 1 and 2 though.

I know, sorry my friend :D
After beating Black Mirror trilogy recently, I've been just looking for some good adventure game with similar soul and atmosphere. I've remembered that this would be a perfect candidate and with the post above I've only wanted to recall to GOG that there is this great game and people would like to buy it from here. It doesn't have many votes on the wishlist but still I hope GOG is doing something to get it here.

Thank you for the link, the price is really good. But since it's already DRM-Free there I'm a little bit shocked why it's not here yet? I'm used to buy digital games only from GOG and steam, so I would really like to put a Gray Matter folder to my /Games/GOG/.. folder on my external harddrive. First world problems... :D

lowyhong: Gray Matter is released? That is...unexpected...

I'll see if I can get my hands on it next week.
And it's coming to GOG!
It's great to see this game on GoG, I always wanted it! But... why is it only in English and German? I know the game has also French, Italian and Spanish. Being on sale I'd love to get it, but I don't feel like playing it in English, when it should be in my language :/

Many possible reasons, but it all boils down to the fact that the rights to translations can be kept separate from the rights to the original content. Basically, it could be that whoever holds the rights to the translation (translator, language service provider or what have you) may be unavailable, or maybe they are asking too much money for it. It's the kind of thing that tends to be handled behind closed doors, so it's all speculation as far as we are concerned.
