Windows 8, as some may realize, insists on storing contacts in it's People App which is notorious for trashing most of the contacts stored their.

As I've had to begin downloading freeware desktop application to bypass the crap metro apps I was wondering if their is a free address book program out there that's easy to quickly copy new emails too...

Personally, I use Thunderbird for both email (IMAP through all my accounts), address book (syncing with Google, via plugin), and calendar (same).

While Thunderbird could be better (its address book inherits too much rigidness from its ancestry in Netscape Communicator where I'd prefer if the number of fields were more arbitrary, similar to Google's web interface and Apple's Address Book), it does suffice.

Thunderbird here as well : )
Not as complex as I'd like, but a still great alternative to other programs.
I just use Google / Gmail. Quick, easy, syncs everything to my phone.
