Gazoinks: Essentially yeah. It is to the Galaxy Phone as the iTouch is to the iPhone.

EDIT: One game that I haven't seen mentioned is Majesty. Although it's a bit simplified from the PC version and I don't like the cartoony graphics as much, it's still great fun and quite unique.

Licurg: They made an Android version of that? I thought it was only for the iOS.
Yep: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.herocraft.game.majesty&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5oZXJvY3JhZnQuZ2FtZS5tYWplc3R5Il0.
Good to know:) Although it still sucks compared to the PC version... Not necessarily because of the graphics, but because the gameplay is far too simplified.

Yeah, the removal of the Rogue's Guild and 4 Temples is annoying. It's still a lot of fun for mobile gaming though.
New Star Soccer is the most addictive football game I've played on mobiles. Giana Sisters and Battle Squadron are also pretty good.

World of Goo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.twodboy.worldofgoofull

It's a really good game with a great soundtrack, and being able to touch and drag the gooballs made it just perfect for me. It's also practically designed for mobile gaming, with lots of short, fun levels.

Cogs is another good puzzle game for Android. Same kind of game - really interactive puzzles - but with a different approach (it's focused on gears & cogs, for one thing :D ) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lazy8studios.cogs

Oh, and also Quill. It's the best note-taking app I've tried, and it's free if you side-load it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1378625

Does anyone know of a space sim similar in style to the Freespace games? It seems like that could be fun, 'specially if it uses the accelerometer.
There were two Humble Bundles for Android that presented some of the best games on Android. As I don't have a credit card (yet, it's on the way) I've not been able to buy anything off the Android Market - now named the Play Store for reasons that escape me - but I love Anomaly, Fruit Slice (a free knockoff of Fruit Ninja that is fully featured and ad-funded), Cogs, World of Goo, Canabalt and Plants vs. Zombies.

The truly greatest apps in my mind though for Android are those that relate specifically to your country. I have apps for Deutsche Post, Deutsche Bahn, my bank and heise.de and I really couldn't live without them these days.

Yeah, this annoys me because I started looking into an Android shortly after the second bundle closed. Though there's that new Because We May bundle that has some potentially good stuff in it. I already have Cogs and World of Goo on PC, but they seem built for mobile so I'll probably rebuy them.

Cogs works just as well on a PC as it does on a mobile, although twisting the cube on a tablet or phone can be a spectacular pain when time is tight. Don't even think about playing World of Goo on anything smaller than a 6" screen. I only play it on the tablet now and abandoned all hope of playing it with any degree of skill on my HTC Desire Z.

Thanks for bringing the Because We May initiative to my attention though. Will certainly be keeping an eye on that next week.
I will have an android tablet soon, and i was wondering about apps also.

Is there an equivalent to microsoft word which reads notepad/wordpad files?

I've been using Documents to Go for a productivity suite and it works well. There's a free version but the full app goes on sale sometimes for cheap (I think I got it for a few bucks)

If you're getting that tablet anytime soon I would go ahead and buy Bard's Tale while it's still on sale. Awesome game with a worthy android port.

In addition to the other games mentioned in the thread, Granny Smith is another solid title for mobile devices. Also Rockstar has ported GTA3 and Max Payne to android with Vice City coming soon.

Thanks for that info. I'm a little apprehensive to try fairly high end graphics on it (as it's a cheap tablet).

I do have Avadon the black fortress ready to install. Just can't use the tablet until christmas!
I have the Teamviewer app so I can remotely control all my computers from my phone if I want.

Here are the ones I have on my HTC One X phone... and they're all free:

Teamviewer
Eternal Warriors 2 (first one wasn't very fun, IMO, but I really enjoy the 2nd)
Zenonia 4 (a fun Action RPG, SNES styled)
Reading LIght (Simply makes your screen a solid color, shutting off the sleep function when activated)
Brightness Level (a better suited control for the screen brightness than what it comes with)

That's all I have right now, but am keeping my eyes out for more good things.

cogadh: Look at games published by Gameloft. Most of their games are "near AAA" titles, as in they look and play an awful lot like certain games, but aren't those games. I've got a Blur-like racer called Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, a Starcraft-like RTS called Starfront: Collision and a Final Fantasy-like RPG called Eternal Legacy. They also do licensed games and mobile versions of "real" games like Assassin's Creed and Rainbow 6. Just steer clear of their freebie games, most of them are adware ridden and require excessive permissions.
I'd personally steer clear of just about all their games. Shameless rip offs shouldn't be encouraged.

Personally some of the real treats I believe are:
World of Goo
Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (the extended one on here)
Great Big War Games, Total War Battles,
A Bards Tale, (xbox port, great game but needs a reasonable spec)
Super Monkeyball 2 Sakura
Beastie Bay
Z Origins (Yup it's ye olde pc game Z)
Blazing Star (one of my all time fave neogeo games, great side scrolling shooter. BONUS!)
