Game is amazingly overrated thanks to Nintendo fans who had nothing to play on their 64. Even if it was relatively in advance on its time, when it was released a handful of PC shooters owned the hell out of it. Rare are hacks and to me they've yet to make a good game.
I can't believe that these are the same Nintendo fans who swore by Perfect Dark like it was the FPS equivalent of the second coming of Christ when you had Quake III and UT the year before. What dweebs.

Um.. Yes, you did, you had a great wealth of amazing games on PC.
But there's no doubt that Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were the best console FPS of their time.
If you were just a dumb kid, who's parents were even dumber about things, you would be evvvvver so lucky to see a gaming level PC, and with your parents who's fears were "oh no, johnny will look at teh pronz!!" It's soo much easier to ask for a Nintendo, than it is to ask for a gaming PC.
It wasn't until finally I needed a computer for school that my dad would get one for us, and even then it had to be out where everyone could see.
It was terrible!
But anyway, as good as the games are, they obviously haven't aged well.
And I don't remember UT or Q3 having turrets. :DDDD

Whoa.... I had no idea anyone could dislike Rare so much. I mean, Unreal Tournament is pretty much the best shooter of all time, but Perfect Dark is great. In fact, I don't think it's arguable that Perfect Dark is at least a good game.
And why does everyone hate the N64 so much? What about Space Station Silicon Valley? Oh, and Rare made Diddy Kong Racing, another great game. Love the music in that one, too. There were plenty of good games for that console.

It's been dead. For a while. It was pretty much confirmed when they talked about doing it last year, and then went "No one wants to agree!" How did this issue get resurfaced? I always thought it was very obvious.
