TheEnigmaticT: I don't suppose appealing to at least a slight veil of civility in the forums would work? No?

We average about one topic a year with "ass" in the subject. One every other year with "fuck" (according to my googling), One "shit" a year, and innumerable "damns", "hells" and whatnot.

I figured: you know what? Let's try and keep this to a minimum because, hey: it doesn't hurt to try apply the thinnest veneer of civility, does it? It's hardly censorship. We're asking nicely.

Asbeau: This has got nothing to do with civility, he just said 'kicks ass'. And if you're altering posts, it IS censorship.
Also wouldn't the FULL text of a title be submitted to the search engines anyways? It's not like someone would just see the word ASS & nothing else in big bold letters in their results with a link to the thread, right?

I'm guessing if such links appeared in someone's search results it'd show the full thread title, allowing the person searching to see that the word ass wasn't used rudely in the thread title, but was used within context and civilly.

The best part is, of course, that the URL still says ASS.

it is a bit annoying though, here I am trying to get my daily dose of pron, using the normal key words in google, and all I get is the gog forum...

Lol....good one.

I wonder, though, just how high GOG would rank on the search results for a mere 1 mention of the word ass/etc a year? Page -infinity perhaps?

TheEnigmaticT: -_-

GameRager: 0.o

All in all, what we're trying to say is that no......a veil of civility is alright to ask of us, if done in moderation. Censor/redact/etc f**k/s**t/etc to your heart's content, but know when to edit and when editing would be too extreme a measure. That's all we ask. :bows:
I think he's concerned that we'll hit the 1 per year limit before they even get around to releasing LSL or Softporn Adventure.

Remember we only get one a year, so we shouldn't be wasting it on something as banal as ass.

gameon: I searched google for groupees (the games bundle) and the damn urban dictionary link is one below. Argh!
You do know that google filters your results based on previous searches, right? For me it's the site, then facebook, then urban dictionary. Seems like someone has been spending way too much time on Urban Dictionary (or Social Media).

That's a very good reason to switch to something like duckduckgo.com which doesn't screw with the search results like that.
The ironic thing is that GOG effectively politely request for us to not share out the installers for the games they sell us. Some people don't follow that, so they end up on torrents and such.

Still no DRM.

Yet a handful of topics a year, results in censorship.

Yes, assuming Duck Duck Go can actually find what you're looking for. Tried it for about a month, but since the duck wouldn't find anything relevant, it went.
If you do actually find what you're looking for, by all means use it, but unfortunately it didn't work for me.
Oh well, that's why there's a second browser installed with a permanent incognito mode.

gameon: What censorship?
The one that changed this topics title from

"GOG.com kicks ass"

to

"GOG.com kicks gluteus maximus"

without the authors consent and no way of reverting it (like unhiding low rated posts).
avatar
hedwards: Yeah, that's pretty low, I think we can do better.
I'm going to change the title of my giveaway to
'Xyem's Weekly Hoe Giveaway'
which will take it up to ~52 a year.
avatar
gameon: Re-read my reply ;) and look at the year changed to 365 days:
I meant martian years! That's not 365 days!

Nice one though :)

xyem: But what if I want to see things as they were intended by their author? I have no recourse. There is no checkbox for making the topic of this title say 'ass' again.

So yes, it is censorship.

Censorship: The practice of officially examining books, movies, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts.
The link stands unchanged. I think you're clever enough to figure it out, Xyem. :P
