If you preordered Botanicula on GOG.com or have been paying attention to this quirky adventure game, you very probably heard all of the noise around the Humble Botanicula Debut and how some users were left rather unhappy about paying $8.99 for a preorder of the game while people who bought it on day one could pay whatever they wanted for it and they got more goodies than the GOG.com preorder provided.

This left an unsurprisingly sour taste in some gamers’ mouths, and we were just as surprised by the launch of the Humble Botanicula Debut as anyone else was. As soon as we saw the bundle, we reached out to the guys at Amanita about providing our users with something in return for their preorders; we got them to agree to give us a number of goodies from the bundle, and we’re giving you and every other user who bought the game before 12:00 GMT on the 20th of April will receive a few things. Everyone who bought Botanicula before we published this news will automatically be getting Machinarium to your shelf on Monday, and we’ll be emailing all of those purchasers with links where they can download the full soundtrack and a special artbook of Botanicula designs and character sketches.

Finally, we wanted to give you guys something that you couldn’t get in the Humble Bundle to make sure that you didn’t feel like you got a raw deal. To that end, courtesy of our fine friends at CDP RED, we’re happy to let you know that we’re also giving you and everyone else who already bought Botanicula a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut! This game will also be on your shelf on Monday, so look for it then.

At GOG.com, we’ll never knowingly disappoint you, and while this preorder mishap may have made you a little unhappy, we hope that you enjoy Botanicula--it’s a fantastic game and many of us here at the office are fans--and, if you’d like to say “thanks!” to our pals at CDP RED, check out The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, available right now at your favorite DRM-free game store, GOG.com.

Have a great weekend!

I saw your promise of a giveaway, which led me to buying the Humble Bundle for charity. I thought, "hey, I'll get a free game anyway, so I'll kinda be donating to that to charity. Why not?"

And now, I am being awarded my 4th copy of Machinarium (after Amanita, Steam, and Humble Bundle), and not getting any Witcher (I already have GOG.com and Steam copies).

I didn't feel bummed when I heard of the Humble Bundle deal, deals happen every day after all, but now I kinda do feel let down.
I applaud GOG.com for this move: I had full well expected Botanicula to feature on the Humble Bundle, but definitely not so soon :-)

But, you got to love the irony: last night, I registered my Witcher 2 serial (I've got the big special edition at home with the bust of Geralt). But it looked so alone on my shelf that I took advantage of the cheap offer for Witcher 1, and bought that too (matching my special edition box at home!).

I'm definitely not angry or disappointed, though, GOG.com, Botanicula and the Humble Bundle are definitely bargains at that price. Besides, Grimrock is REALLY awesome.
I don't understand why Amanita can't just give people who pre-ordered the game all the extras from the bundle. Is it so hard to give all their customers a copy of Kooky?
I will not receive the extra Botanicula stuff , because i didn't preorder it . :(

Technically? No. Legally? Oh yes.

Amanita has nothing to do with Kooky or Windosill, do they?

GOG are not obligated to give anything, cause this screw up by Amanita is not their screw up. The whole point of doing something about it is great enough and deserves the respect from their customers ;)
GOG being awesome as always :-)
You guys are just legendary.
Thanks Gog very nice of you to do this, I have a the boxed EE of Witcher already but great to have the GOG copy now too.
If Carlsberg made businesses.....

GOG would still win.
I didn't pre-order but I bought the game from GOG on release yesterday before I heard of the extras. I already have Machinarium and The Witcher, and I got the soundtrack from the bundle, but if that means I'll be getting the artbook now for deciding to support GOG I'm happy. Thank you very much! :)

I don't really get why Amanita still insists on denying the soundtrack to GOG customers who didn't pre-order. What incentive is there to buy the game on GOG now? They could have offered a Collector's Edition for $13 or $15 including soundtrack and art-book and maybe another small game, to make sure that the offer on GOG remains attractive. The way it is now, it was a nice promo for them until the release, but I doubt GOG will sell many copies of the game afterwards.

Anyway, GOG rules!

Kooky is one of their side projects.
Sounds fair... I was not even expecting anything. Although I already own the other 2 games (1 not on here) I look forward to the sounds track and art book! Thanks for making it up to your customers GOG!! One more reason why I would have got this game here anyway regardless of the price.

All they need to do is give us Humble Bundle keys that unlock all the stuff. They should buy the keys, giving all the money to charity, as a mea culpa.
