Please gog, just focus on finished games and getting more classics.

Demos tended to be cut down/restricted versions of release builds, not alphas or betas.

For games like Grim Dawn, I would really like this feature. They are taking so long, I have fully given up on waiting out the final release. Looks like another full year of dev left at least. So now, I'm playing the "beta" as the final game. if/when the full version comes out, I'll replay or continue playing (since they promised major updates). The game is polished and updates are frequent and significant. I wouldn't have minded Sir, You are Being Hunted for early access either. As they mentioned, some titles fit well with this method while others don't.

Sounds like GOG is in the right spot. Seeing the need, and doing it the right way (optional, correcting historical mistakes, etc.).

IMHO, early access is for highly re-playable type games. The kind where you are burned out before release and the devs rarely update are, also IMHO, the type of game to leave off the early access list.

I'm all for early access versions of classic games. Bethesda puts the Fallout games on early access and works on fixing all the bugs and making the games even better... Sounds like a dream come true.

Yep, it will. A few more instances of what was done with Earth: Year 2066 and gamers will be more cautious, if they aren't already. They'll start pulling the purse strings.

It'll make it harder for relatively small unknown studios to take advantage of the Early Access revenue model because of the uncertainty caused by the few that have abused it. More established or well known studios will have a bit of an easier time selling it.

This wouldn't interest me. I'm already sick of "pay now and hopefully play later" games. Haven't done it, don't expect I ever will. There's one game on Steam that yes, I do keep my eye on, but it's been almost a year and they're still calling it a "one-to-three-hour demo"... so no.

Steam has demos, too, btw. I think GOG should bring those here as well.

Hurry up and pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order if it isn't too late! If Bethesda means that by pre-ordering Wolfenstein I'm given the "privilege" to access the DOOM Beta by PAYING for it, then I find that a little insulting, personally.

You want me to pre-order your game and reward me by giving me the opportunity to pay for your beta? Forgive me for not jumping at the chance.

Part of me thinks that Early Access is good. It's a revenue model and helps small studios. It provides a way for the gamers to get involved. That I understand, but don't treat it as if you're giving me a bonus or doing me any favors. You're the one getting PAID to test your software. You should feel privileged, not me.

If the beta is free as part of the pre-order bonus, then I take it back as far as this particular game goes, but the rest of what I said stands.
