Hi I use to own a commodore 64 and loved the game pirates. My question is if I buy the pirates game. Can I use a gamepad to play this game on my pc? Also, does anyone have any issues playing this game on their pc due to this is an old game.

Man it brings back memories.
I can't answer the gamepad question, but in regards to if it works on modern computers? Yes, it will. It is an old Dos game, and there is a really good Dos-emulator that GOG uses (that can be downloaded for free ), which makes almost any DOS game work on modern computers. With a handful of exceptions (compatibility list can be found [url=http://www.dosbox.com/comp_list.php?letter=a]here)

Basically if it is a Dos game it "will" work on your computer, if it is a Win 9X game (to my knowledge GOG does not have any Win 3.X games here yet), then there is the chance of it not working properly on your computer. It most likely will, but it is not as safe of a bet as with DOS games.

The game works on my PC( I have Win7 OS). Don't know about the gamepad, sorry, but I do know that after buying Pirates, your next purchase should be this:

Even if a game doesn't support gamepads, you can use certain programs to convert gamepad input to keyboard input, which should help! I haven't tried any before so I can't recommend one, I'm afraid.
