King's Bounty: The Legend, the turn-based strategy-RPG mix set in a beautiful high-fantasy land, is discounted by 60% on GOG.com for the next 24 hours!

In the fantastic realm of Endoria a freshly-knighted nobleman swore an oath to his king, thus taking on the mantle of the Royal Bounty Hunter. Little did he know of the numerous adventures that the destiny had in store for him. There were great battles to be fought, lands to be conquered, armies to be led to glory, villainous tyrants to be overthrown, and beautiful ladies to be courted. But even the greatest things have small beginnings. Assigned with a small squad of recruits, the youngster was set free into the land to seek out bandits and monsters to slay, treasures and magical artifacts to claim, and princesses to save. And so, a lifetime of glory and valor began for our gallant hero.

King's Bounty: The Legend plays a lot like a Heroes of Might & Magic game. But calling it a simple clone would be unjust. Saying that it's a "genetically enhanced clone"--as one of our users called it--would be much more fair. The gameplay is full of unique ideas and the high-fantasy setting of the game has a very distinctive feel to it. With countless hours of gameplay, innumerable tasks to complete, giant world to explore, and a great variety of enemies to defeat, this gem of a strategic-RPG truly deserves your attention.

Shiny up your armor, saddle your white horse, and set off towards your next fantastic adventure in King's Bounty: The Legend, for only $3.99 until Thursday, September 6 at 10:59 AM GMT.

mistermumbles: Umm. That's an actual game mechanic? WTF?

Duskwolf: Yes, you can obtain a wife in the game if you do the correct quests. There are several different wives to choose from, each of which gives different bonuses to your hero. You can also have kids, which also come with bonuses. However, you can not choose which kids you get, and they come with vastly different bonuses, some of them really nice, others really bleh. The problem with kids is that they take up slots you could use for equipment instead, and rarely have as good stats as a piece of gear you could equip in their place. It is therefor recommended not to have them. When your wife gets in the "mood", just say no. ;)
How... bizarre.

...I don't think that's how children work. 0_O

Well, how would you know? Have you tried strapping a young lad to your arm lately? =P

You can get divorced, too. Armoured Princess takes it in a slightly weirder direction by having 'armour bearers', male companions to your female heroine. There's no children that give bonuses, instead the guys wear your cast off clothing and items. If you've seen the armour the princess wears that's not a pretty image. Some even wear your dresses.

Yikes. I can only imagine.
I own it since its release here, but I haven't beaten it yet.
I was probably near the end and in that time, my PC decided that it's time to format the HDD. I haven't bothered trying it again since then.

Also +1 for "gief other KB games naow". :)
I had to buy this game, because of all the positive reviews I have read about it. My only two complaints after couple hours of gaming are:

1. Those stupid .bik & .ogm videos stutter s-s-s-s-s-s-o much that I can't view them. (Problem inherit to Windows 7 64-bit, I think?)

2. The text in this game is incredibly small. Is there a way to make it bigger? O_O

Yes, the game is very mod-friendly. From the 1c forum: To modify font sizes yon need to copy the fonts.cfg folder from the data folder to the mods folder and increase and decreas font sizes.
