Hello! New guy here, try not to yell at me if this is stupid, or at the wrong place.

So my question is simple: Is it possible to use the GOG Downloader through a proxy? I'm having trouble getting downloads to stay uncorrupted through the HTTP downloads, and the only connection available to me at the moment is through a proxy.

I've tried a myriad of things, but to no avail...

If anyone can help me, then thank you!

I don't know about proxy support but I've used Free Download Manager for GOG's HTTP downloads and it gets the file without corruption. Stopping and resuming may involve supplying a new source URL (since they expire) but it's otherwise a great alternative to GOG's Downloader.

Hm, I did used to use that once. A long time ago. I'll try getting back to you, and see how that goes.

I presume yes, at least for me the GOG Downloader works great from my work internet (corporate) connection, which is behind a proxy. I don't even have to put proxy settings anywhere in the downloader, it just works.

For example Steam client does not work at all from the same network (I think it even says in Steam support pages that you are not allowed to use the Steam client through a proxy, maybe they're afraid you'd try to trick the system to get lower Steam prices from some other area than where you are), and for some other clients (like one downloader client I need to use to get work-related files from a 3rd party site), I need to give the proxy details.

So did you try the GOG Downloader, but it didn't work for you through proxy?

Huh. Curious. Mine just didn't like working. The indicator on the bottom left stays "Offline".
Are there certain ports that need to be open?

It could be about certain ports, I guess only GOG support can answer what exactly the downloader client needs from the network. All I know is that for me the GOG Downloader client works without hitch from a corporate network where many other services don't, due to proxies, firewalls etc. (like Steam, bittorrent, active ftp (which works if you set up the proxy details) etc.).

Did you login ok to the downloader client, and it at least tries to connect?

I don't think I was able to log in at all. Something going fishy here. My proxy requires authentication. You think that matters?
