I'm trying to download the Witcher but anytime I open the GoG Downloader it freezes and I get the beach ball of death. How do I fix this?

I downloaded the game normally without the GoG downloader but the disk image failed to mount.

I'm using OSX 10.8.5

Hm. That always happens to me when the external drive on which I store my games isn't connected so the GOG downloader can't find the destination. Any chance something like that could be causing your problem?
No I don't have anything plugged in. I uninstalled/re-installed it and tried again but it just freezes.
You tried turning the heat up ?

Does it only freeze when you try to download something or also when you just start it up via the executable?
(I don't actually know where I'm going with this. It just seems like something someone who knows what they're talking about might want to know.)
i'm having similar problem. seems like it can't login.

...fixed deleted preferences in preferences folder and had to re-choose download location.

i was downloading on to a thumb drive that never left the computer, but for whatever reason gog saw it as different.
