Ok, maybe I just got unlucky, or maybe it is a bug. I was downloading The Witcher 2 and decided to go with the GOG downloader... Wish I had downloaded through the regular browser. After downloading up to 14.9 GB, the download paused indefinitely... It still says "downloading" but the status bar is not moving and the download speed is 0 B/s...
Now normally, I would just begin downloading all over, had I been back home in the states. Sadly I am stuck in a third world country where they limit internet access, including how much you download. I am given a 25 GB quota (this is the best package by the way) and exceeding that results in a penalty of $10 per GB (this is in excess of the $80 I already pay for the package). So I am sure you understand my frustration now at the piece of junk that is the GOG downloader :(
I must admit, before all the big titles with large download sizes came to GOG, the downloader was working fine and I was able to easily download the 20 or so games that I have. However, now I am not so sure about the reliability of the downloader.
Just wanted to vent a little and perhaps provide some insight to people who face similar draconian ISP services.
