Adzeth: I'm guessing the big announcement will be "The big publisher is... one of these three companies! We'll announce which one in August. Neener-neeener!".
Dammit! That was going to be my joke.
$1 = 1€ = £1

Don't joke about that. It's already happened with DotEmu.
They're going to announce that Soylent Green is people!
"The new publisher is Electronic Arts! Sadly, no System Shock, Dungeon Keeper, Alice, or Little Big Adventure, but hey, you don't get early FIFA games for 9,99$ each everyday!"

What kind of people?

EA bought Bullfrog, right? So they have rights for Dungeon Keeper.
That Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing is coming to GOG.

It's not the poor, right? Because I don't want to catch anything

Heavens no. Occasionally one or two gets in and PETA throws a fit, but you needn't worry.
My hope?

Electronic Arts back catalogue added, bringing us Wing Commander, Privateer, Dungeon Keeper, Command & Conquer Red Alert, Ultima I - IX, Syndicate and all the other great games from Bullfrog, Origin, Westwood and EA.
If we're going to go all literal here, and and read "biggest announcement yet" as a company that have a huge back catalogue of games to live on for years to come, I would say it's EA. I doubt it's LucasArts because, quite frankly, they're not known for quantity, but rather quality. And most of the quality is already easily availble, with a few exceptions. Grim Fandango could use a patch or two to get the game working flawlessly, and so could EMI. Unless they're going to be releasing every little game with the Star Wars title in it since the day of George Lucas' birth, I don't think the catalogue is that huge.

Not to say I don't want easy access to DRM free copies of every LucasArts adventure game, and then some. But for quantity and availability reasons, I kinda hope for EA. LucasArts would mostly just provide me with games I've already played several times every year since they were released. Although I would like a true proper standalone version of Monkey Island 1 and 2 (especially 1, since the version they included was probably the worst looking one to put the new SE graphics in a better light).

StarEye: If we're going to go all literal here
then they make their announcement in the biggest font size they find.

Odonnell435: For the past few days we've all seen it. The countdown on the front page that is slowly ticking down to zero. What kind of announcement will be made once the clock hits zero?
Dr. Emmett Brown told me they acquired a time machine and now can start to negotiate with companies that don't even exist anymore.

Oh yes, and probably those five big companies signed all for GOG. ;-)
