[url=http://www.gog.com/x11]Our holiday sale is here! You’ve been waiting for the chance to pick up all of our great classics at incredible savings, and that time is now. Virtually the entire catalog is 50% off from now until 2 January 2011. While most of you have probably clicked through and are getting games now, let’s let you know about the fine details of the promo.

Activision games are on sale until the 26th of December, so be sure to pick them up early. We’ll do our best to remind all of you via or [url=http://twitter.com/#!/GOGcom]Twitter about that, so be sure to follow us there if you aren’t for updates and reminders. Further, The Witcher 2 will be 40% off during this holiday sale, but the Witcher: Enhanced Edition is 50% off. Finally, there are a few games that are not in our holiday sale: in particular, Codemasters games and Gothic 1 are not included this year.

Our holiday sales are the best time this year for you to pick up all of the classic PC games that you have been waiting to get since you joined GOG.com; Santa also appreciates you picking up games on GOG.com, because that’s less for him to fit in his sleigh. ;)

Happy Holidays to all, and we hope all your gaming wishes come true!

keeveek: I dropped Firefox 5 to Chrome. Then I've dropped shitty, slow Chrome to Opera. And lately I dropped Opera for FF8. And I'm amazed how FF improved. Faster, Better, Harder, Stronger ;)
Yeah, I wanted to drop FF to Chrome, but it doesn't support Win2k

And FF8 is working really good atm.

sparkatus: From where I see, firefox become more and more unstable as they release new versions... it crashes about 5-6 times/day at work. Too bad Chrome don't have firebug :/
Not a single crash since Firefox 8 installation for me.
Yikes. Looks like I might end up spending over a hundred bucks. On the other hand, it'll be a long time until I'll run out of games to play - I'm going to own almost half of GOG's catalog at that point - so I probably won't look into anything but new releases from now on.

Don't know you, but I'm a "hardcore" user, I tend to left 15-20 tabs open and even a download running... or maybe there's something very wrong in my PC :/

Chamb: The problem with King's Quest (and other Activision games) not showing up on the promo page should be fixed right now. :)
Yes, I can see some more games now, thanks. But they're still not all there. For example, Crusader: No Regret is still missing, unless specifically searched for.
thank you... Oh, thank you! :) It's thanks to you guys that I finally have a chance to enjoy the fabulous Ultima series.

Thank you for this promo, GOG staff!
My brother and I are going to spend quite some money here in the coming days/weeks ;-).
Thank you for the great sale. I'll be picking up a bunch of games especially some EA titles.
Also adding my thanks for a great sale. Picked up most of my wishlist.

sparkatus: As a web developer I must say:

Firefox: development;
Chrome: personal use.

Yes I've noticed as they rush out new releases it hasn't got better. I do get more crashes than I used to and as I use firefox as workhorse, lots of tabs it is annoying. When you close firefox with lots of tabs it takes ages for firefox.exe to fully close in the background (as seen in taskmanager) as I guess it slowly releases the memory it is holding from the system.

I use chrome these days for a browser I want to open quickly and video playback and firefox for general browsing (plus it has all my extensions, though as they keep pushing new versions I'm starting to lose extensions due to compatibility)
wonderful, my wishlist is empty and I'm now on 89 GOGs! and that's all the money you'll see from me this year, GOG! :D (unless you plan on releasing some more new titles in 2011 as well...)

I just counted all the entries on the promo page:

"All genres": 282 games
---
"Adventure": 62
"Strategy": 82
"RPG": 41
"Simulation": 36
"Shooter": 44
"Action": 33
"Sports": 13
Total: 311

Difference of 29(!) games. And as far as I can see there are no double entries in the genre-sections.

tpaolini: Press Ctrl+0 (the number 0 of the numpad), this will reset the zoom and you will be able to see all the tabs :)
On that note... seriously, GOG... you really have to do something about your CSS. It's been horribly broken for larger fonts right from day one, and you should not be making assumptions about font sizes. It was acceptable at the beginning, but you've been through a big redesign now, and the business is a success. I'd say it's time you fixed your style sheets and made the site more accessible.

(To be fair, some things have been improved over time; but there's an awful lot which is broken; and the current issues with the sale page seem to indicate that your developers simply don't test for this! Change that attitude, and you'll be in a much better position in future.)

Bah. I already own Empire Earth :(
16 games purchased. My credit card is taking quite a beating! Still got half of my wish list to purchase though...
