It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Since when is Safari considered an upgrade? I would rather use a WAP 2.0 browser than Safari.

I'm talking about the Windows version before any Mac fans chime in. Even Steve Jobs considers Apples Windows programs garbage.
Where's Opera?

Jesus, did I miss something? What makes IE6 so vile that Microsoft actively campaigns against it?

If I simply replied 'everything' that wouldn't actually cover it. Its terribleness goes beyond the program itself.

It's a security loophole and a back door into every computer it's still on (and there is a LOT of malware that targets IE6).

It's the bane of every web designer who is told they have to design their sites to display correctly on an antiquated browser with its antiquated understanding of code that was pretty borked even at the time.

In short IE6 brings that little, but noticeable bit more hatred out of the world.

I use Safari as my default browser. Sure I start up Opera, IE9, Firefox, or Chrome every once in a while, but I do prefer Safari. And Itunes for that matter compared to every other media player/library I've tried.

I can't help myself either.

The correct answer to this question is please remove IE6.

The only logical conclusion is that you use OSX. Safari and iTunes are rubbish on Windows.

Your conclusion is actually correct, except I was referring to my primary computer which runs Windows 7, and I doubt IE9 works well in Wine yet.

Well I did say I was referring to the Windows versions, not the Mac ones. I use iTunes only for podcasts now, it's next to useless compared to other media players. Tried Safari and I thought it was awful.

Aye, but DelusionsBeta thought I was referring to the Mac versions, and I tried to clarify in a round-about way that I wasn't. I like both Itunes and Safari on Windows, actually, one of the reasons the reason I bought an Ipod rather than another portable media player was that I already used Itunes. Sure, both applications could be made better, but I'm less frustrated by them than by everything else I've tried.

To each their own however. Me mentioning Itunes was a mistake, this wasn't meant to be a debate about media player.

Please carry on chastising your most hated browsers. Be happy, have fun.

Barefoot_Monkey: I understand what you're saying, but instead of hoping that GOG makes the warning more bearable for you it might be worth just trying another browser. I realise that you need to have IE6 installed, but is there any particular reason that you can't install a non-IE browser?
I understand that it's needed to alert that IE6 doesn't work with it (which is obvious b/c text goes all over the place and it sometimes takes a few minutes to close the alert).

Sometimes I'm stuck working on an old machine that uses IE6 web-based programs. Yesterday, I was uploading archaic files into the cloud. The computer barely had a functioning HD, so I didn't want to mess with it too much. I had 10 seconds of work, then 10 minutes to sit and wait. Rinse and Repeat 10 times. So surfing some news and gog was a fun thing to do at those times. But GOG just wasn't loading. It just kep hanging up at the IE6 sucks overlay.

It's not the worst thing in the world, of course. But since IE6 doesn't handle what they're dishing out so well, it'd be handy to have it a less fancy alert. That way, people who actually are stuck on an IE6 machine for some reason don't have to deal with it too.

Maybe all it takes is the ability to close the window before the page finishes loading, as you said. That'd be just as handy.

P.S. I don't use IE6 regularly. It is, of course, evil. I like higher IEs and Opera, mostly.

Pirate versions in internet café's and homes and locked down corporate installations. That's pretty much it, tbh
