As much as I hate origin, it seems like it has became a necessary evil much like steam. Which sucks so badly. However, my girlfriend likes the sims, and this 50% off Australia day sale makes me wonder if it is possible to gift on the crappy service. I tried looking around before, to buy her pets and late night, but I couldn't see any references to gifting, due to the fact I only buy EA games retail normally, I have never had to personally buy a thing over origin so this is something I dont have experience in.

Origin doesn't have a service to allow for game gifting, sadly. They supposedly had one like a year ago but it never worked and now there officially isn't such an option.

I'm pretty sure any purchase of Origin titles on Amazon comes with a Origin code for said game. Registering it to your gift recipient's account should do the trick.

However, I couldn't really take advantage of the sale with that.. Thanks though for the responses. Bleh, origin. Surely the biggest example of how to do online stores WRONG

They definitely still have work to do.

I know they're not "new" in a pure sense, but they're new to giving a shit and making an effort at it. I recall hearing loads of issues about Steam when it launched. I'm sure they'll get that stuff in. Actually they could pretty much rape Steam by selling family packs to people who had family Origin accounts (don't exist yet, but think of XBox Live Gold Family - in fact MS are in fact dumb motherfuckers if they don't do this themselves next gen).

On the 360 any game bought on a specific console is usable by anyone who logs onto that console already so the only family pack they need to arrange is getting publishers to agree to allowing online passes to be added to the master account of a family and working for all...

That's what I mean, my daughter and I both have our own console. I shouldn't have to buy games twice (I don't, I buy them once, on sale and she uses the console auth and I use the online auth - but that can only work with up to two people). They need an option where you pay 50% more and anyone in your Gold family account also has access. If they do that they would clean the fuck up.

Yeah it's one of the few things I'd love them to bring in I'm tired of my OH complaining she has to use my account to play certain games online
