In Sacred Gold you are given the choice of one of eight character classes including a Dark Elf, a Gladiator, and a Vampire Lady among others. Each hero starts from a different location, has its own quests and skills, but all share a common goal: to save the fantasy world of Ancaria from the evil necromancer Shaddar. The Gold edition includes all improvements added in Sacred Plus and the Sacred Underworld expansion, which added two new characters and new quests that follow the final events of the original Sacred.

Sacred 2 Gold, set two millenia before the epic events of the original Sacred, allows you to hack 'n' slash your way through a vast world full of foes of all shapes and sizes. The amount of weapons and armor you'll have at your disposal is mind-boggling. With plenty of choices between following the light or shadow campaign quests, an addictive leveling system, and multiple character races considerably affecting playing styles Sacred 2 delivers on its promise of hours upon hours of fast-paced fun. Acting as a prequel to the original game, Sacred 2 Gold Edition comes packed with bonus content, including the awesome Ice and Blood expansion adding new regions, a new playable character, and countless new items.

jalister: It seems like there is a trend in sequels that having nothing in common other than sharing the name. I've seen several of these "sequels" that have horrible reviews.
true....

example of another game series: jagged alliance

the 3d remakes of JA are in my opinion f-ed up
i love the orginals but all those wanna be 3d remasterd versions and new stories are crap

Another example: Monkey Island

When these games got their 2d graphics it was beautiful, monkey island had beautiful graphics
lateron replaced by dull 3d graphics.

lateron everything has to be done in 3d , thats the part where most games fail
If you wanna make old school adventures dont use 3d...

3d is best suited for games like Call of Duty and the like, these games are excellent
All other games like adventures and/or jagged alliance games should have default 2d graphics
I know that creating beautiful graphics like the old school lucasarts games had seems to take more time, then using another 3d engine, but then you create a unique setting, never use 3d, it messes up and makes everything look the same, when using pixel or handdrawn graphics evry game can get a unique look and feeling, with 3d its just change the faces and textures but basically its all the same.
Nice promo : )

EDIT: I've changed my post because I somehow confused Sacred with Gothic XD

phaolo: Those who miss Sacred1 will be finally pleased : )

Anyway, even if the first 2 games should be better, I couldn't resist buying also the third in the last promo lol.

There is no Sacred 3 here on GOG.

jadeite: How are the chances of getting the german version of Sacred 1?
Funny but nearly useless fact:
Sacred is a german game and the goblins are not translated to english, so they speak german in the english version.
I laugh every time when a goblin chief yells:"Schlagt ihm den Kopf ab, ich brauch`n neuen Aschenbecher!". :-)
Just FYI, a lot of people don't realize that the 1st Sacred is one of the most Easter Egg laden games out there. Everything from 'Star Trek' to 'Friday the 13th' can be found. :D

"Hit him in the head, I need a new ashtray!" or "Knock off his head, I need a new ashtray!" :)

In Sacred 2, I like the kobolds who say "I should've listened to my wife!" as their last words.

So is S2... not even including the Easter Bunny Cult quest, the heavy metal band quest, Saving Christmas, and the ridiculously long super-secret Headquarters Mission!

I wish my system could handle #2. One day perhaps.

True, and be sure to check every single tombstone for a laugh.
Great promo. Great games.
I already own them though. :-)

I've finished both of them multiple times with different characters.
What no Sacred 3 ;P

Took a look at the steam page, lots of negative reviews basically because it isn't like the other games. I wonder how it would have rated it they didn't use the sacred name, would it stand on it's own ok?
By all of your comments it sounds as if I just buy one of them it should be 2?
I really want this promo but: No Money No Sacred! :(

Sacred 1 was a big step forward in its time and it still is a good game. Gold Edition includes the Underworld expansion, which unfortunately has badly designed areas, but it still adds two new characters for the main campaign.

Sacred 2 implements all the modern aRPG mechanics and has better graphics. There is a higher quality texture pack, that came with the collector's edition of the base game, but it isn't included in GoG's version.

I suggest to play both games.
If you have to choose only one though, I think the second one is the best choice.
