Red_Avatar: I fear the age of decent gaming magazines has moved us by. It's funny considering gaming is bigger than ever yet the magazines suffer from too many things to mention.
I think it applies to magazines in general and the way we consume written media nowadays. Because of the internet content has become more atomic and independent and as such I rarely find it worth it to buy a whole magazine just for two articles that interest me, especially when those articles can be found mirrored online (sometimes even on the magazines website).
This along with the proliferation of freelancing in journalism means that I am no longer tied to a publication in order to read everything an author publishes because he most often than not collaborates with more than just one magazine.
Also, I find that most features are lacking, and by features I mean in depth articles, well written and accompanied by an amazing layout, font, colour. If I wanted to read lines of text on a simple background I wouldn't of paid for your publication, especially if the article has no substance.
With all this in mind it's no wonder that the only magazines I read frequently (as in as close to month-by-month as possible) are Wired (UK and US via import) and The Economist.
