El_Caz: Is the story of gothic 1 somehow tied to gothic 2? can I play gothic 2 and not be concerned about things I've missed from the first game? Or is it all so generic I'll pick it up on the way no problem?
I played the demo and was not so impressed but people do warn about the game having a steep learning curve and I wasn't that patient or forgiving when I played it. Will give it a whirl again when I get home and if it grabs me, I'll fetch it, since i love buying "gold" or "platinum" versions when they're on promos.
IIRC, there's a story recap at the beginning of Gothic II, but it doesn't really matter much, as your hero is basically reset to zero at the beginning of the sequel. You do revisit the island where the first game took place in Gothic II, but it's changed a lot since then; and most of the game takes place on an entirely new island, with just a handful of familiar faces around.
And yes, the controls of the two Gothics feel incredibly clumsy at first, but over time, you'll come to appreciate them. They are actually really good, just unorthodox.
