Weclock: they're making another Resident Evil movie, but this one is completely CGI and is written by the games writers.
Also, I think I'd like to see Escape From L.A. done in a style like Fallout 3. That would be fun.
Maybe I'm weird but I'd also like to see some chick flicks made into games, made up like dating sims with minigames.. but maybe I'm just crazy

BloodDoll: Hey if you want a sort of chick flick dating sim experience, just install the free second life game and you can find me in there. They don't show enough on the page to sell it. If only we could private message people here, I could show you how I took myself and turned it into a game character and all that. That game could be scary but hanging out with me would make it fun.
Btw if there's a UT2004 mod based on Escape from NY. Might be hard to find. I have it somewhere from when I hosted it.

As much fun as that sounds, I don't think I'll do it. My girlfriend has had issues with her past boy friends hanging out with a bunch of whores on second life, and I generally stay away from market places where the big sellers are anatomically correct body parts. I mean, not to say that it's all bad, every community has it's downfall, but given my own history and the sensitivity of the subject, I think I'll just relax. But I don't mind playing source games with anyone, and I've decided to visit the irc more often. I'm also up on Xbox Live.
my gamer tag is Rezoule, and you can find me by Weclock, any place else.
EDIT:
I even have a youtube, http://www.youtube.com/user/weclock
and my band has a myspace http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=268759333
I mostly write and do video editing (been very lazy on the video editing), but I also did backup vocals in If I only Have a car, which you can catch on my youtube page.

I think I fell in love with non-existing movie

Fenixp: Movie from Planescape universe - it's wicked!

Wouldn't it be too big for a movie? D:

BloodDoll: Also the anime Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex - They did make a PS2 game based on it, but I wish someone would make a PC game, totally new and based on the series. Using all the main characters and being a team based game... though Motoko would probably be able to take care of herself.
Bladerunner as a PC game too.. maybe they made a game out of that for some console long ago though. I didn't look. I don't even know what they'd do for the game. I just know I've made many maps based on or inspired by the city for several game engines. I always loved the vibe and loved mapping it but also adding my own ideas to it.

+1 on the PC GitS SAC game. Would buy immediately provided a good story and direct participation of IG studios and the producer of the tv show.
There's already been a Blade Runner PC game - by late great developer Westwood. Something I'd like GOG to carry actually.
Some happy linkage for you: http://www.brmovie.com/BR_Game_MW01.htm

FEAR is both scary enough and suitably generic that it could very well be a good movie.

Seconded! It would be a good horror/sci-fi movie, a genre that usually lacks of quality these days.

My ex worked on fear so I don't like it as much even though it's a good game. I'm sure you can understand though how it would remind me of him. You're right though, it would make a good movie. I have to be scared by a movie or game though. Actually certain aspects of Prince of Darkness bothered me, the dream stuff and that I watched it at 2am in the dark, in the house all alone.
Chronicles of Riddick was indeed the best Movie->Game adaption ever. being as it was much better than the movie.
AvP and Bladeruuner also rocked. plus of course X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Jedi Knight 1.
I'd love a mad max game. The closest we've come is Interstate76, which i also loved.
Generally they make terrible choices when making games into movies. It was clear from the beginning that Doom, Hitman, Street Fighter, DoA, etc.. were going to make terrible movies. Halo also is so generic that it'd just be an aliens clone in movie form.
(the only good game->movie adaption ever was of course Mortal Kombat!)
The one franchise I think ould make some awesome movies has never even been considered: THIEF.
While fighting games have no plot and too many characters, and most FPS games are themselves already inspired by movies, the thief universe is perfect for movies. It has:
(a) Unique setting. (industrial fantasy)
(b) Great, complex plot with twists.
(c) Awesome lead character with personality, unique style, unique look, deep backstory, complex motivation & relationships.
(d) Great supporting characters and factions. (victoria, etc..)
(e) Unique, stylish graphic design.
(f) deep world.
Basically, the thief trilogy would make awesome moves, they'd have to change very little from the games, they'd be similar enough to LOTR to gain an audience, but unique enough not to be generic.
I want a well done BattleTech movie please.
I must love bad movies because I thought and still think Street Fighter was a good movie (the Live action one, yes).

Try not to put your own opinion forward as being objective truth. I liked both the Doom and Hitman movies.
Instead of making a movie from a game, why not just make one that's set in the game's particular universe but without tying in directly to the game?
A good example would be a movie set within the Thief universe. Those games alone have some hints of other stories that we never see directly but hear or read about throughout the games. There could be something about the Hammerites vs. the Pagans, exploring the conflict between those two groups. As far as Garret goes, he could be mentioned in passing via wanted posters or in the conversations of the passers-by but you would never see him directly in the movie itself.
Opinions anyone?
im just throwin it out there but, Anyone else think a day of the tentacle movie done right would be brilliant if done right.
The Deus X mythology would have made a good background for a movie.
People mentioned Thief universe and I've too agree it would be amazing if it was in the hands of a creative and good realisator... I don't remember the names of my examples (but I can see few images of steampunk movies) who were kinda... lame. I mean the visual part was great but that's it, the plot was entirely lame. If some people can remember me some names...
Though, I have to say that Tank Girl is in my favorite movies for its completely crazy atmosphere (Steampunk, too), even if the story is lame, it's kind of auto-satirical (and the characters are fucking funny) so I like it :D
