Hi
I was very happy to find this site, there are a few games that I played and loved a long time ago, but never actually bought.
I'm wondering, can I get some of these games in a box, or at least on 'proper' media? I'm even willing to pay a little extra for that.
If not, what can I get to make me feel like I own something? I already have soft copies of all the games I want.
Thanks
Grab a blank DVD/CD with a writeable label.
A blank DVD case and some paper, or, some foldable thick card paper.
A printer, preferably colour.
Mix ingredients and place on shelf.
(Obviously it's more complicated, google around for various techniques)
I've done this for some material I've purchased digital in the past, A bunch of shiny stuff looks better to impress people when it's tangible rather a file on the HDD.
I would think the cost of GOG or someone producing professional material, including time and postage would increase it fairly high since it will not scale to good levels (yet!). But who knows eh?

As Ois says burn it yourself to disc so there is a physical item. Or if you want something to make you feel like you've got something physical buy a snickers bar or a newspaper.
I don't wish to sound like a troll or troublemaker but you need to embrace the new world and relaise that physical ownership is no longer a priority when you're buying old games and living in a world that is trying to cut down on it's waste.
If you really want some of these games on a box you could try to get them on ebay or old used stores.

He wants physical copies the digital copies available here that he does not already have a physical copy of.

Excuse me my good sir, do you call THIS a box ?
And I don't think it would be possible anyway, like you said in the same post.

Well, like it was said here you can surf the web (ebay, amazon, etc) and some local shops and you can find some of those games for a real bargain. Some even cheaper than they sell here.
Otherwise you can do like it was said earlier you copy your game to a cd/dvd, find a website with cd/dvd game covers and print it.
Try and find some site that has the game box art (Hey GOG this would be a nice feature, if you could also make available the game box art, what do you think?) buy some carton print the box ,cut, glue, and there you have a more visible and "feelable" game. ;)
It really would be wonderful to get boxed stuff from GOG, but I can't imagine that would be anywhere near cost-effective for them, plus I doubt companies that still exist want to manufacture new runs of old games. Especially problematic with companies that no longer exist.
Will be fantastic to have at least cover arts in high resolution here on GOG.
Just curious, but what would you want a box for? For most games, GOG does offer additional "value items" like soundtracks, wallpapers, concept art, etc. that should make you feel like you "own" something. If you already have the software and all that, what more do you really need? Maybe its just me, but I've tossed the boxes from all my old media games, they take up too much space. I do keep the disks, but most of them are in a three ring disk binder on a book shelf. The packaging was not what I bought the games for anyway.

I for one like to look at a shelf and see something there. I actually disliked when games went from boxed format to just the cd/dvd case even though they still bring pdf manual and sometimes other extras. And I will take a severe blow when all the distribuition (games and otherwise) becomes interely digital, not that i mind really (it's more environmemtatly friendly and a space saver:) ).
But I am still from the time when you took your friends at home and showed them you vynil/cd collection. What will I show them know? my extensive digital files collection. lol :)

for person who travels a lot I prefer digital distribution. In the past boxes were just gathering dust lying on top of my wardrobe. Although they do bring memories I don't like them.
Last boxed copy I bought was Project Eden. was a bit surprised when i saw it in the shop. Looked so out of place, so lonely. :)
don't have it anymore. just a cd.
As I get older I find I like digital copies better, despite the long downloads for bigger games.
It just seems to me that if I can make a positive impact and create less waste, than I'm doing something good for the planet. Not to mention if more people use digital distribution to buy games, there will be less DRM.
I for one like to look at a shelf and see something there.

If I looked at a shelf and saw nothingness I would probably shit myself.
I like to have a physical copy of media too, just in case EA buys GOG and then tells me I cannot play the games I bought any more unless I implant a camera in my forehead so they can keep an eye on my activities, but I'm trying to get past this silly compulsion. I back up the games I DL on disc or SD card and I'm a happy camper.
While producing boxed copies is probably within GOG's awesome power, it's not really neccessary, it takes things back a step and it would take up some of their profits, leading to prices rising.
Stay as you are, GOG-baby.
