Like many, many people I've been anticipating this sites opening for months. But, there was a lingering thought that I couldn't seem to let go.
Optional game version downloads.
Many people like myself enjoy some of the aspects of pre-patched games. An example would be fallout 2. The pre-patched version offered some nice perks to the game such as early money, items, skills and 'perks' due to a few glitches. Sure, there are a couple of annoying glitches involving npc conversations but those were easily bypassed. These 'patched' downloads don't offer enough versatility in my opinion. Sure, gamers can hack the files and change saved game characters, but that tends to become tedious when dealing with multiple characters.
The simple solution would be to allow for the separate option to download patches.
Fantastic site and kudos on the effort to make these games playable on today's hardware. I, and everyone else I'm sure, really appreciates it.
Well, I think it is the same here than the "old OSes compatibility indications" story. The later the better, some games patches tend to mess a lot with the gameplay (for example Diablo II) but mostly they are meant to resolve bugs and make the game up-to-date....
Imho GOG.com is committed to let gamers play the old games in their most up-to-date and compatible form, so....

I understand where you're coming from, but I'm coming from the 'aw screw it' group. Because I think they're fine the way they are. It would be in my opinion, superfluous to add older versions of a game, because usually people would get just the pre-patched version and forget about any patches.. besides that the patches usually not only tweak gameplay but fix and issues as far as keeping the game running. And doing just this version will keep people from going 'oh I lost my save because I patched..'
To me, it just seems like a lot of extra work to create more problems, but like I said, I understand the benefits of using a pre-patched version as well (for example, Morrowind).
