Good riddance

This publisher is responible for the fall of Gothic series, so i'm very glad to see them go.

drmlessgames: I'd like to know if these going out of business IP auctions are open to the public. I'd like to see if i could buy the Gothic IP. I'd re-release them on GOG under a drmlessgames label. =O
That is unless someone like me outbids you. ;)
Awww damn, they just made a contract to release Garshasp on western shore

I'm sure that other stalwart of cheap ass PC games Strategy First will be keen to pick it up. As long as Dead Mage Inc don't expect to be paid. Or there is Kalypso, known for spending no more than 2 bags of pork scratchings on promotion. Oh and there is Meridian 4.... actually no forget Meridian 4 they actually want to sell Garshasp.

PB never completely lost the Gothic IP. They only agreed to allow JoWood to use it for a certain period of time. Well, that's what they're now saying at least.

Really? I'm not seeing any reference to them on the Gamers Gate page, nor its Wikipedia page (neither Garshasp's, nor JoWood's). I think it's safe for release.

Dead Mage look like they're self publishing it online at least. Maybe JoWood were going publish a retail version of the game.
GoG should buy whatever rights don't go to PB :)

As for JoWood, good riddance. It was about time for them to go under. If they didn't release anything half decent recently then there is no reason for them to keep going. To bad for some people but that company should have "retired" a few years ago.
Good to know they've finally gone down under. They've been anally raping consumers for so long it's not even funny.

I hope PB can find a good publisher though.

They already have Deep Silver as a publisher. I'm sure DS will be delighted to get the Gothic franchise.
I quite enjoyed spellforce 1 & 2, but apart from that then JoWood are a welcome departure from the market. Especially for that "The Guild" game, who the hell would ever recommend that!

Wait for it...

EDIT: Damn, I hope GG still sells Spellforce Universe after this. :( I want to buy it this summer.

Uh oh, someone just turned on TheJoe signal.
I can't say I'm surprised. It's sad that many people (including ones that weren't responsible for the company's strategy) will lose their job. But the guys responsible for management definitely earned this. Just look at what they have done with Gothic and Painkiller.

Yeah, I was interested in picking up a Spellforce game at some point too...
