I avoid all giveaway threads right now and don't even have the motivation to make one of my own (when I have funds to spare at least). It is one thing to enter a giveaway for a game you really want but can't afford (or what not), but seeing the same few names in almost all giveaway threads? yeah.

Hell, I would love to be able to get some new games - my current situation is pretty crappy and I can't support buying new games... but I deal with it and keep playing what I already have.

Honestly I think the 'bad' parts of those threads/this community (as it is evolving at least) have kept me from the forums alot lately; used to be on here all the time but lately it is just irritating (to me, probably because I have enough annoyance in my every day life, don't need it on a forum :)). I still am truly appreciative of the folks who, no matter the down side, keep on finding the generosity to give games away to people they don't even know. That has always been the best part of this community and will always be the best part of it - hopefully things will steady out and the people who constantly beg for every game they see will realise that life doesn't run like that.

Good on you OP for giving away something :) - totally missed whatever the whole thread drama you were talking about but I know the general idea.

Have a good evening/day/whatevertimeitisinyourpartoftheworld :)

IronStar: What the fuck did happen with the community here since I stopped frequenting? Ninja thread was a pisstake competition, with dozens of pages of friendly chat and some games thrown in for good measure/justify the topic name. Then first scammers came, and soon after I've left. The place was filled with great people, and was the best gaming community I've ever seen.
I see it went downhill from there.

Obviously not in, just wondering.

pimpmonkey2382: Seen a real downturn happen during the insomnia sale. I'd almost rather have normal weekend sales than the insomnia ones if those are what it brings.
same thing happened during the first one
Not in but thanks for the giveaway.
A nice reply could be: if you want free games just click here
I'm glad I didn't frequent the ninja thread.
I never thought this forum would need an 'ignore' option. Sadly it seems this could change.

With the influx of new people seeking free stuff it would be a must. This was a nice an cozy corner of the internet where anybody could chat about almost anything. I'd hate to see it ruined.

I was thinking the same thing about the ignore button. I am also thinking that they might need to post IP address under the country...

NoNewTaleToTell: Normally I just ignore those posts, but the few times I've seen people outright DEMAND a free game and/or whine about the lack of games being given away in the Ninja thread, I just post a key for Teenagent. If you're that worried about getting a game for free then there, there is a free game, enjoy.

iphgix: Since this was the ONLY entry that got a vote, I gave NoNewTaleToTell both rocketbirds and Limbo steam keys.
Seeing as how a saw a total of one vote in the thread...I have a ton of excitement towards doing more giveaways.
I'd like to speak a few you words if you don't mind. When I first saw this thread I thought "what a great idea for a giveaway thread" and decided to go ahead and post in here. I don't post in every giveaway thread, due to knowing the odds of winning combined with the fact that I'm not always interested in the games offered. Well I was interested in Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken and figured at the very least my story might bring a laugh or a smile to somebody who read it. It was a close race, at times I wondered if I even stood a chance of winning, now that I have I would like to thank the person who voted for me, the other entrants, and of course you iphgix for your generosity!

I still have a spare key If anybody needs Teenagent.
It was a real nail biter, but in the end you won by *1* vote. That *1* vote separated first place from last place even...in fact that *1* vote separated the winner from all of the people who said 'Not In'. Nay that *1* vote was all that stood between you, and your impressive win, and all of the people who did not even reply to the thread.
