It may be only my impression. but I have seen quite some projects fail that had their tiers in pounds instead of US$. This may have something to do that for Euroland the conversion to Dollar is usually somewhat more favourable than to GBP (and of course to US backers no conversion at all is required for $) or it is, that GBP is just not as familiar as US$ to many. In any case it is my impression that having GBP prices listed is a notable disadvantage for Kickstarter projects, so you might go for US$ tiers if you try again some time in the future.

IMHO, it's not just that the conversion aspect. I think part of the problem is that a lot of projects using £ structure their tiers on a 1£=1$ basis (almost as if they copy the price tags and only change the currency symbol). That makes the UK based projects (objectively) more pricey for both EU and US people.

Another problem with UK based campaigns using £ may be that they don't use Amazon (or some other well known and respected payment platfrom). Instead, people are required to enter their credit card details directly on the Kickstarter site, plus pledges then go through an undisclosed payment processor.
The devs are still working on this :)

Update #12

Nov 3, 2013
Autumn Update “The Pumpkin Patch”

Hi there,

I hope you had a lot of fun at this Halloween night. For us this month was crazy , but, eventually, I found a moment to pull myself out from the work to write a new update, and actually we have some interesting stuff to share;)

Nintendo

Good news for all owners of Wii U. It finally happened, about a week ago we (Snow Arc) became an official Nintendo developer, this means that now we can develop and self-publish games for Nintendo consoles. So, Yes! Frozen State is going to be on Wii U;)

But you would like to know more about the progress, wouldn’t you?

All right… here it is…

Luch 12

First of all we slightly redesigned the inventory GUI -”Lutch 12″. Its initial double-display concept has transformed into a more conventional single-monitor shape. Though the double-display version looks cool and unique it has some considerable flaws. The most irritating is a lack of useful space that were left for the actual interface, needless to mention tiny fonts and contracted words.

The single-monitor gadget, however, doesn’t have such problems. We’ve have managed to preserve the initial design of “Luch 12″ and an idea of splitted screen. Thus as a result we’ve got an interesting looking UI and more room that we were so needed. At the first glance, it may not look like a big change, without any interface on it, but believe me it’s a gigantic difference.

Creatures

The Boar or “Mr. Bacon”, as we call it, has been crafted with love and awaits to get its animations.

We already have five different types of Hybrids fully completed, by completed I mean modeled, animated and imported in the project. All of them are going to be in alpha.

Besides, we have a new “pet in our “Zoo” – the Tripod.

Locations

As I already, mentioned in the previous update, the work on the “Docks” is nearly done. At the moment we’re finishing up the very last building, which is an “instance” type. What are the “instances” in Frozen State? Usually, an instance is a fairly large building or a structure that is too large and complex to be a part of the “world”. Such buildings contain many elements such as floor plans, interiors, loot, obstacles, spawn spots for enemies, NPCs, and many others which are put together in a whole building procedurally. In the future, almost every game object in the world will be procedurally planted on its place ;)

This is just an example of an instance building (without props)

And a few screenshots from a location that we have just put in development.

The screenshots are taken from the engine’s editor and DO NOT represent the final quality. HUD will be changed soon.

Thank you,

Snow Arc Team
Great that they are still going. I wonder if they have received any funding after the kickstarter failed.

Hi every one!

It’s going to be a quick report on what have been achieved already and what’s still lurking in our toDo list.

What already works:

- basic needs- Character needs food, water, rest , also you have to watch his/her body temperature, otherwise the character will freeze to death. At the moment you can get warm in any building on the map.

-armour/clothes- Protect from damage and low temperature. Any piece of clothes found on the map can be equipped, but at the moment it does not change characters’ appearance, only stats.

-cover system - character can avoid confronting enemies or hide in the certain places to escape a chase.

-HUD - it may change over time, but right now we are happy with it and will leave it in the current form at least for alpha.

-supplies- food, water, alcohol, med kits can be consumed to restore hunger or health for instance.

-bags- basically, different bags allow you to extend the character’s inventory. The maximum number of bags that can be equipped at a time is three, but it also corelets with strength.

-fuel- vehicle requires fuel, which can be found in the city. Whenever an engine is on it consumes fuel. If you don’t turn it off and leave the car, the engine will continue working until the tank goes empty.

- melee weapon – have not much to say, it just works) -accuracy - depends on the character’s skill level and weapon. -

optimisation- a lot of optimisation

What’s next

more ways to warm a character up

instances

more enemies

enemies’ AI

crafting system

“world map”

NPCs

and many, many other interesting things.

Base on our estimates, which can be altered, the very first alpha should be available at the beginning of the next year;)

Best,

Snow Arc team
Nevermind.

Looks very good. I hope they throw it out later into crowd funding when they have something to show like an alpha that has all the working basic mechanics, preferably something like IndieGogo where, if I recall right, you get to keep the cash even if it's your project isn't successful.

Happy New Year everyone!

I spent this week preparing materials for our Greenlight page. It's live now and I'm super excited and worried at the same time.

For the past six months, since our Kickstarter campaign finished unsuccessfully , the project has changed and evolved dramatically in something different from our original vision. We had to drop some of the features out, redesign the others, shrank the scope, but on the other hand we've made good progress and like the corse we took. I would appreciate very much, if you could spare a moment of your time and have a look at our work ;)"
Greenlit!

It happened 22nd January I believe. I believe I'll pre-order this game but I don't know, might wait until they release at least beta footage of actual gameplay so I don't get my hopes up in vain.
Hopefully they will *still* be releasing a drm free version.

Unfortunately looks like Steam initially. :(
This looks great. I'll definitely buy it on Steam (I will probably still get it on GOG when it's released).

I never play the early access-games, but I like to contribute a bit and follow the developement.

Honestly I understand them. It doesn't make sense to use a limited budget (I don't know it granted but they tried a kickstarter and failed so it can't be much) to tie to a system that offers DRM-free and keeps healthy updates. Desura is awful updating some of their games and we know GOG's habit of slow updating. They also mentioned that it's temporary, when the final is released they will consider other options that offers DRM-free.
Release is imminent!

I live in the north woods. Oh yeah, this is a game I need. :P

Just funnin'! Don't report me for spamming. XD

I was wondering why this thread was bumped. It's an interesting game, but not interesting enough to justify buying from Steam. I hope they'll be adding more stores when I have money to buy more games.
