Yeah Antec were known for stylish but functional cases like the P180. They changed and re-branded to make gamer cases around the time they developed the Nine Hundred which was also a fantastic case. If you are on a limited budget then the Antec Three Hundred is very hard to beat when it comes to cooling. However they also go mad at times. Fuck knows what they were thinking with this monstrosity.

Wtf is that thing? I'd be scared a virus writer could turn it into some sort of killing machine that would kill my family while saying "el oh el" over and over again in some creepy, mechanical voice.

I've left the door off my cases out of laziness before, after doing something inside, but I'd never want something ugly like that!

I love CoolerMaster cases. Lian Li makes awesome stuff, but you can buy a barebones kit for the price. Coolermaster gives you plenty of space, fans, bays, etc... and are built amazingly well.

You know... everyone keeps saying building your own is easy... and it is. Insert Tab A into Slot B. It is easy. Clean wiring takes some finesse but overall it isn't hard.

It's designing a PC that's hard. You can just grab a mobo and some parts and whip it up. I took four weeks to buy my last PC's parts... and 2 hours to build it.

(Why 2 hours? I spent over an hour on attaching a heat sink the size of my head with only two hands... I should have called a friend to help, and the heat sink would have been on in 5 minutes)

There are lots of good parts, but some play well with some others better and vica versa. Getting the right RAM and CPU and all that takes research and learning. But once you've invested that time, your computer savvy and ability to tune, tweak and troubleshoot goes way up... and each new build gets way easier... so it is worth it.

Heh yeah. As big as the Antec 1200 is I had a hella job installing a Thermalright TRUE Black in it. The Yate Loon side fan needed a chat with Mr Hacksaw.

I must admit, I was expecting at least a couple of "Oooh, aaah!" comments from that link.

Well, in French we say that "les goûts et les couleurs ne se discutent pas". Custom(ized) cases vary from hype designer exclusive "pieces of art" to self-made projection's of their builder inner self ( I remember having seen a case that had been rebuilt to incorporate the upper part of an ( artificial ?) human skeleton. )

That happened to me! Most windows key stickers I've seen have protective plastic over them, but not this one. =( Still, I've got a key by using a key finder. Whether it'll work on a future computer, I don't know.

Well, the very principle of an OEM OS is that it is bound to the computer. It can't ( based on the EULA) be ported from one computer to another. On deskstop systems, one might have te chance to "repair" rather than to "upgrade", but on a consumer brand laptop, the OS is de facto "branded" to the computer... The purpose of the sticker is to allow a reinstall of the OS...

I've successfully transferred OEM copies of Windows XP many times... Perhaps it's more difficult with 7.

Legally speaking, OEM Xps , vistas or 7s are bound by the same restrictions : the activation is tied to the motherboard. I know that ever problem has its solutions but anyone considering them should be aware that these are contrary to the EULA.

I "suppose" that the activation system evolved together with the OS. And I think I've read something about some forthcoming changes to the way 7 manages its activation.

That's whu I wouldn't count on being able to transfer a Win 7 OEM licence to a new build.

See, stuff like that just makes me tired and lazy. I pay a premium so I don't have to do that at home, even getting stuck with it once in awhile is more than I want to deal with. Yes, I'm lazy and completely whining...:)

Yeah, I mean they're not the usual run-of-the-mill "look how many cool lights I've fit onto my PC" cases. They're actually something that would look damned nice in any living room.
