It wasn't a myth, but several years of insufficient moderation and a huge growth in the customer base pretty much did that. I remember back when a political thread wouldn't automatically get derailed into flamewars around here.

Those were the days. Now there's enough grumpy people around that it doesn't work like it used to.
He's a troll is why people dislike him. It may just be the topics I see where he's in the midst of the flamewar, but I don't see him outside of that context here ever.

Now me, I don't suffer fools, the intellectual sloth of several posters would cause me to put them on ignore pretty much immediately as they seem to have very little to say of any value. But, I also do go out of my way to help people.

But then again, I know there are some dumbies around here that think I'm a troll, mostly because they're comprehension of English is poor and they're too arrogant to admit it.

Nothing to do with being clever - most of my posts are a reference or quote of some kind, hence they tend to be cryptic!

Honestly, posts one doesn't understand are at worst spam and more often just not meant for one.

Well, it's usually a contextual thing. They do tend to be on point, but with a bit of a spin. Don't think I've posted anything that makes absolutely no sense within the relevant context.
