On another thread I had a vague memory of a game and Fever_Discordia helped me track it down. This made me wonder if other people have memories of games that few people have heard of today.

So what games do you remember that have now fallen into obscurity? Was there a good reason people forgot about it or is it a hidden gem?

The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary. It was made by MECC of Number Muncher and Oregon Trail fame, Similar to the Dr. Brain series, you point-and-click your way around an island, solving brainteasers to get ingredients to a potion to turn you from a doll back into a human(it makes sense in context). After playing it again through *ahem* immoral methods, I found it still is a quite fun edutainment title.
Well, lots of games were just never really known, especially the really old "indies".

How many people here have heard of Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles of Putrid Debris? Or Stellar Conquest 2469?

Some are mildly better known, such as Highway Hunter and Excelsior Phase 1: Lysandia.
My brother and I used to watch my mom play the Shivers games. I especially loved Shivers 2: Harvest of Souls, because the second disc was also an audio CD. I basically stole the second disc and manual from my mom so I could listen to the music and look up the lyrics in the booklet. But now, I don't really know of anyone besides my family who has even heard of the Shivers games, which is a shame because they actually have some challenging and imaginative puzzles. It's little gems likeShivers that make me miss the era of FMV games...

I have heard of it but never realised it was a game. I just knew that was what DOOM's "IDSPISPOPD" cheat stood for - ID Smashing Pumpkins Into Small Piles Of Putrid Debris (all cheats started with ID for those who forgot).
Another often forgotten title is......ummmmmmm

I'm sorry, what was I talking about?

No I just wasn't playing attention. Sorry. :(
Some of the games i think nobody remembers:
Hanse
The Mask of the Sun
Vermeer
They Stole a Million
D/Generation. Just remembered it last week as I was driving from a customer to a hotel. I don't know if it was forgotten, or just plain purt'near unheard-of in the first place.

Are you freakin' kidding me?

When I read the OP, this was the first game that instantly came to mind.
We had it (along with Oregon Trail) on every machine in the computer lab in elementary school. After finishing your work, if you were a cool kid, you played Dr. Q. Getting past the frog head puzzle made you popular.

Great game, and still just as fun as it was when I was 10.

You're not the only one, believe you me. My sister and I fanatically played both those games through on multiple occasions. The atmosphere to those was genuinely spooky...it was just always too bad that the "demons" were so cartoony, because it sort've raised an anti-climax to what the atmosphere and lore helped create.
