If the game took place in NYC I could see mistaking a rat for a bear (bears are smaller) but I very clearly remember the bear at the beginning of Soldiers. I always thought that was funny as hell; they are about to send you up against blood thirsty militants and mutants and to make sure you're ready they test your might against a defenseless bear. XD

"Yeah, open up that howitzer on him! That should test your grit!"
