Having just had a long weekend with two car boot sales barely ten minutes from where I live, I decided to take a stroll down there and see if I could find anything of value in the way of games or films.

I've just come back with original DOS copies of Lemmings, Lemmings 2, All New World of Lemmings, Super Stardust 96, and Subwar 2050, plus Mechwarrior 2 for the PS1.

Just curious if anyone else found any gems for bargain prices at flea markets?

I found complete big boxes of Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, Phantasmagoria, and Myst all together for under $10 at a flea market. I already had Vampire from GOG but I still bought it anyway for the manual. I've found some good NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games too for cheap. I don't go to a lot of flea markets or garage sales to try to find these kinds of things but it is fun to keep an eye open and find stuff like this the occasional times I do go. Just try not to get too addicted to it :)
Nothing new, Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri and Halo 2 (for Xbox) were the last good findings for me in the local flea market. At least for PC games, I think I own everything worth owning that they carry there, and there doesn't seem to be "new" second-hand PC games coming there anymore. And frankly, I'd prefer to get them in digital format (as long as it is DRM-free).

I wouldn't mind finding some good PS2 or even PSOne games there, but most console games in the flea market appear to be either sports, racing or children's games, there's an abundance of them. No sign of RPGs or better action games (like God of War 1-2) etc. I guess they would be snatched the first, if there ever were any in the market.

Yeah, you do get idiots at flea markets trying to sell used account-bound games. Copies of the PC versions of Assassin's Creed 2, Half-Life 2 and Homefront - used - were at the stall of a professional trader, and he was demanding near full price for them at that. I did politely indicate that fact to him and his response indicated that he knew he was committing fraud. There are so many games though that will never go digital on PC for one reason or the other.

The Lemmings games and Super Stardust are two that will never appear digitally on PC as Sony now holds the rights to them. Older Need for Speed titles will probably never appear due to licensing issues, and I hear older Codemasters racing titles are also plagued with licensing problems.
