The-Business: That doesn't work neither in Chrome nor in Firefox because a different element overlaps that checkbox and captures the click event (from lousy investigation). So it's the site's fault.
I kinda figured it was a site coded poorly, or coded for IE. Just strange that it would work in IE, but not any of the other browsers.
