Ok, so this dude is nuts and chasing after a voice in his head and somehow convinced his two partners they were going after a serious threat.

But did all three of them really take on the 33rd (if they did I assume those soldiers were truly there to help with the sandstorm)?

The voice of the baddie he's chasing accuses him of only murdering 47 innocents which I assume to be the Muslims taking refuge in that city that they mortared with napalm. If they really did bring down the 33rd as well then he would be accountable for far more than just 47 deaths....

I saw both endings - One where he accepts that he's insane and gets rescued, the other where you continue with the madness making ironic sense of the last chapter's title "Welcome."

I assume there's a third were he commits suicide if you refuse to shoot the ghost image of dead leader he's talking to towards the end (but I didn't try it).

Check out this LP, below the vids, in the extras section. Some fun read on the plot.

4 endings.
Talking about the endings of Spec Ops: The Line is a bit difficult. I follow the theory that Walker died in the helicopter crash and relives the last moments of his life. When you play the helicopter scene the second time (it's exactly the same as the one the game starts with), Walker says that they've done this before. For a short time he realizes that something's wrong.

Based on this sight: You're dead in all endings. I think what really happens after the crash, is dealing with your madness while you're dying. Do you accept that you're insane, or do you deny it?

I don't think Walker really accepts that he's insane in this ending. I think it's the exact opposite. It's more like "Hey guys, I've been through a lot of shit, let's get out of here". It's the most wrong ending of the game. I think the real meaning of this end is that you died without accepting your madness. You refused accepting the reality to the bitter end.

Oh, one more thing... There are three endings when the soldiers come to "rescue" you. Surrender, kill them AND: let them kill you ;)

That's a funny one. You should play it. But if you don't want:

SPOILER
If you don't shoot Konrad, you can see you shooting yourself into your head. It does look as if Konrad is shooting at you, but that's just a good trick with the muzzle flash. There's another one. Aim at yourself in the mirror to see you holding your gun at your head.
END OF SPOILER

Play the game again with the perspective you got from the end. Think about everything you're doing. Are you really fighting bad guys or are you just insane? The first soldiers you met were bad guys. But could it be that they were a splinter group? They were alone and without leader for a long time. What's with the rest of the 33rd? Have they done anything bad? Why are you shooting at them? All they're doing is protecting survivors. Walker was the bad guy.

This game gives you a lot to think about if you start to ask questions... after your first playthrough as a super hero, of course ;)

THIS^

I noticed that too and was wondering if perhaps he had been damned to repeating that last portion of his life over and over again. I wasn't too sure whether or not they would've crossed that thin line from war drama into Twilight Zone.

The ending conversation as he's being driven out of Dubai

Soldier "Captain, I hope you don't mind my asking but we seen some pretty heavy shit while we driving through here. How did you manage to survive this?"

Walker: "I didn't"

*Roll Credits*

Suggested to me that he either realized he had lost his marbles or that he was a ghost.....
