A reboot would be meaningless in this series. From another point of view, most of the games are reboots in the sense that they have no continuity from the previous ones, apart from specific sequels and spinoffs like X-2. If it has a new roman numeral, it's a separate game.

If a PC version of FFVI becomes available on GOG, I'll buy it but I'll probably wait until it's on sale. I already have FFVII and FFVIII for PC so I won't be getting those. I'll consider getting FFX, but I'm not interested in the others.

Personally, I'd buy them without question. It doesn't seem to be the most likely of series, but here are the reasons why I'm make this post:

Square Enix recently re-released the original PC releases of Final Fantasy 7 and soon Final Fantasy 8. you can download them directly on their website.

Furthermore, it's rumored due to a poster of the latest Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns coming out next February, that it might be for PC as well, which could, if it's true, have something to do with it's delay.

Furthermore, Square Enix titles are on GOG, so there is an agreement with the company.

And lastly, seeing Square Enix is said to be hurting in sales according to the charts, it would make sound sense to port some of their older classics to the PC, as it would open up a broader audience to people who might not have any of the hard copies or a handheld console.

If you can buy them on most every other platform (including tablets), why not GOG?

And personally, I feel it would bring a good diversity to my RPG collection here, instead of just western prespective RPG's. I love variety in any of my game collections!

The problem is phoenix down kills undead. Implying it brings people back to life.

If only Square made a PC version of IX, but they only made one for VII and VIII. :(

Let's go with a philosophical take on that. Keeping with the idea that Phoenix Down acts like a smelling salt, it "awakens" the undead into realizing they aren't supposed to be alive anymore, thus causing them to return to their state of rest/death.

Honestly, there's no rhyme or reason aside from gameplay purposes why Phoenix Downs do what they do in/out of battle while for storyline reasons don't do that same thing during that one sequence. For that matter, why did everyone in Nibelheim have to die? All they needed were some Phoenix Downs after the fire died down.

I'd probably throw money at my monitor immediately if 5,6,7,8,9,10, and 12 showed up on GoG. Yes i realize that is most of the series but I see that as Squares Golden Age. I feel like things went down hill in a hurry after 12. But I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I just don't think I could do Tactics again. Its just so slow starting out.

I should mention, if it hasn't already, that FF7 is on Steam right now. Like as we speak. But one of the features made me a tad unhappy. Its basically a casual button. You press it, and it maxes out character levels, gil, materia. The whole shebang. Kind of deterred me. I know, you'll say just don't use it, but its not that easy. Just knowing its there is enough to irk me.

Final Fantasy 7 is probably the most ideal introduction to the series. However, if you're going to get the PC version, you really should get some replacement files for the music. What it comes with is downright awful.

Though in the spirit of good old games, if you'd prefer the original gameplay style at the cost of less content, Final Fantasy Origins is also available on the PSN (Origins also includes FFII, though with none of the fixes it desperately needs that it would later get in later revisions).

Long version history for the first four games, no clear "ideal" version for any of them. I prefer: FFI Anniversary (PSP/PSN), FFII Anniversary (PSP/PSN), FFIII NES (but the best translated version is the one on the iOS) and FFIV Complete (PSP/PSN) which is great and also includes its sequel, The After Years, making it the most cost-effective buy even if it had been a piece of junk!

I'm not a huge FF fan, but I would defiantly buy them if they were here.
