LordCinnamon: <shrugs> I like Impulse. Only had positive experiences.

lowyhong: Me too. Very polite customer service, I've sent about 3 tickets in, and usually the support is on par with GOG's
That being said, I am getting tired of Brad's speeches. Yes we all know Steam's the leading player in the industry, and yes many of us recognize the problems that belie Steam, but there's no need to openly berate your competitor all the time. Not good for credibility, and not good for the PR.

To be honest I'm getting tired of the speeches too. The service is great and I had 2 tickets myself that got answered fast but that doesn't mean I like Wardell. He's just rambling and bullying, I seen a few officers do such. They would bully because they're over you and you have to take it or leave. Sadly these guys keep this habit for a year or so after returning to civilian life, that's when they learn quick it doesn't work. That diverted off a little bit but Wardell... he's manager of a company and can keep doing such things even to the disgust of his employees and customers just because if we don't like it we can't do a thing about it.
Bitching about it on other forums and not buying games from Impulse does a lot. You are not helpless as a customer.
PS.I fucking hate the software used in this GOG forum. God forbids you quote more than 1 person, half the time it doesn't work, the other quarter of the time has the quotes all wrong.

denyasis: For me atleast, that was an important distinction. I had primarily avoided Steam, not because I disliked Valve, but because I am wary of the "required client". I don't like that system as a business model; there are too many caveats and "what ifs?".

Agreed.
As for the Wardell interview, I don't see the big problem. Everything that he said is true, at least from my point of view. He may not practice what he preaches, and perhaps Stardock is lousy for folks outside the US (I wouldn't know about that), but it doesn't diminish the veracity of his message. At any rate, compared to the messages and activity of some other industry players, Wardell is positively saintly.
