Runehamster: Not to hijack this thread or anything, but is there a legal way to buy a digitally distributed copy of Fable: TLC? I had it for my Xbox and never got to finish it.

I think I'm going to be violently ill if I have to try to set up another GFWL account. My last one disappeared into lalaland and I haven't figured out how to get it back yet. Maybe I'll just track down another Xbox copy.

It's published by Microsoft, so I'd be surprised to see it on any other digital download stores.

Wouldn't buying a PC box copy make more sense?

THIS.

And to argue back with the poster who said it didn't work for his Win7 64 bit Ultimate - that is the version I have and I have a MASSIVELY overspecced comptuer (i7 930, 8gig DDR3 1600mhz, GTX460 etc etc) and it was absolutely fine.

Back to the post - get the box. You don't even need a GFWL account - this game is too old for that. And it's CHEAP AS FUCK at EB or whatever store you go to. I got mine for free due to the "Buy 2 get 1 free" deal, but even so, the RRP in Australia is 20 dollars, so it must be far cheaper over there where-ever you are.

It may well work for you. But it doesn't work for me. End of.

Cool looking forum BTW. :)

U sure it wasn't because you were using the Japanese version? That's the only inconsistency I can see.... *shrugs*

My version of Fable is the sold on GFWM in the US (had it "gifted"). However, both my win XP Pro and Win 7 64 bit Ultimate OSes are Japanese. It works fine on XP though, which would indicate that the problem is the language of the OS. The wmvs play perfectly on Win 7 outside of game, so not so sure on the issue being codec based.

As the PC is dual boot, both XP and Win 7 are sharing the same hardware. So that only leaves possible problems with either the soundcard (unlikely as the game crashes way before any sound is played) or the Nvidia drivers. Which is likely but I can't update to newer ones right now as doing so will render Anachronox unplayable again.
well i actually went out and get it today and it works. I just graduated and did the first mission out of the guild. I really like the graphics, gameplay wise i kinda knew what to expect so no surprises there yet (played a bit of fable 2) but i was surprised that it is so lineair at this point. Granted i didn't play much but it does seem like its just one straight road every time but I don't really mind lineairity as long as the game is fun and it is at this point so no complaints. Just didn't expect it to be so obvious i guess.
After all this time, I finally figured out what was causing Fable TLC to crash on Win 7 - Window Blinds. To get it working I just had to exclude the Fable.exe from being skinned. I guess the reason I never thought of that earlier is that it wasn't causing a problem on XP where I also use Window Blinds.

Things aren't 100% perfect, the game still crashes when trying to exit it, but it seems playable on Win 7 now.
