s23021536: Hmm, the Cat Lady? Well by the looks of it it might keep me from sleeping as well :P
I did not go to bed after that session :) I went (runned) straight to work. It was 5:30 AM, it was still dark and the streets were mostly empty :)

tinyE: Have I never NOT been on a gaming binge!?

What a silly thread. :P

s23021536: I'm guessing the answer to that confusing question is 'no, never'?

It is a silly thread, yeah. No way to feel better about excessive gaming than to know others are doing it as well :P

In any case TinyE, not another peep out of you until you've played Blade Runner and told everyone how awesome it is!
Your copy should be arriving soon I hope. Actually I'm more curious about whether or not that fan installer is going to work. If so then I'll buy the game again myself : my copy was stolen by a car mechanic

Let me say I was joking about the thread being silly. :P It's a silly question to a dork like myself (proud as I may be) but a genuine and good thread.

As for BR I just ordered the damn thing last night! :O Don't forget I live in the middle of nowhere. I assure you, whence it arrives you will be the first to know. :D

Novotnus: The Cat Lady did that for me. Sure, it's not very long, still - it costed me a sleepless night and coming to work a bit too late :)
And Torment, long time ago. I bought it, brought it home and decided to see what it is about. It was around 10 PM. Next time I remember - it's 4:30 AM and I need to go to school in 3 hours.

ErekoseDM: d2 and d1 were so great why did they have to bollocks up d3 with that online only garbage. >_<

s23021536: Ugh, they knew they were going for a console release and so entering a new market. If the player base was exclusively PC then perhaps they would have listened to our woes. I dunno, I'm guessing it was because they wanted to try and develop a pipeline income from the game's RMAH? In fact I would put up with the online nonsense as long as they dropped RMAH - I thought it obvious that that the RMAH was going to ruin the drop rate of usable high tier items relative to d2, and in d2 it was already an incredible feat to complete an entire set. That killed the game for me right there.
RMAH is being removed within a couple of months, so go get it! It is a great game!

I think he meant it's a silly thread as in you can't really be called a gamer if you haven't been lost in a game. Most of us here can probably say they have been lost in a game.

My truly lost in a game was Civilization 4...from when it came out to about 2011 I was lost in the sandbox mode of that great game. Weekends lost, sleepless weeknights lost, thinking about the game while working. Just one more turn...

Oh? well that is good news :) I hope that that means they will also alter the drop rate of items to compensate though.
I've had a lot over the years.

After first getting a PC I got Doom and Doom 2 along with about 4 or 5 CDs filled with user made levels. That was a long session of gaming time for me. Same with Duke Nukem 3d a year later and 2 level CDs for it.

After them was Command and Conquer and C&C Red Alert.

Had another binge in 2000 with Unreal Tournament.

Around 2005-2007 had it with World of Warcraft. Other things going on in life at the time made me use it somewhat as an escape.

Had a slight one with The Old Republic for a few months in 2012 and 2013 but not nearly as bad as I was with WoW.

I've had many other games I played a lot over the years but not enough to really call it a long binge.

Great stuff :) Come to think of it I do actually still have my original discs and box. I was thinking of my original Half-life disc. That was stolen by the infernal mechanic.

Oh yes, the sandbox mode probly swallowed the most time, but it was in IV that I first realized how brilliant some of the scenarios were: bronze/iron age Mediterranean, trade in africa and the brilliant viking scenario.

I remember when I played doom for the first time : I thought that I was set of life and there was no way that I would ever want to play another game. Ah the naivety of youth...
By the way, go and check out the Brutal Doom mod for doom 1&2 on youtube if you haven't already

Not really but been on a lot of booze binges. :)
First one was pong.

There has been to many to count or remember since then.
The original Civilization. Many lost weekends with that game. Started early Saturday morning, skipped cartoons, and went straight for the computer.

If you could play D2 then you will have no problems. Drop rates in D3 are infinitely better than in D2.
Diablo 1 and 2, Oblivion, The Suffering, and Condemned Criminal Origins. I remember those being time sinks distinctly.
Minecraft, Morrowind, Eador:Genesis and most recently Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. After several abortive attempts to play when I was younger, the latter managed to draw me in and...I didn't come out again until many months later, when I finished the game.
