And no, there won't be a non-steam version.. We had a huge forum-demand for a non-steam version of CK2, and it had an even less percent of the market than we had expected.

Finally,Steam make not only users mindless but also famous developer, even though once they founded GamersGate to deliver their games.

What? You don't use Steam? WELL FUCK YOU THEN!

-Game developers
Crusader Kings 2 was steam only at first too, and then they made steam free version on GamersGate.

Also, Paradox games on steam are DRM Free anyway - you can run them without steam launched.
If almost no one gets the non steam version then why bother?

@keeveek
I dont know how it was with retail but my review copy was non steam but gamersgate one and I recieved it before the release.

Also, this. People were bitching about lack of non-steam versions and then nobody actually buyed GG version, so... why bother.

Not to mention again, Crusader Kings 2 on steam is DRM Free.

Well I have the GG version. Sad news, this.
Paradox Interactive. They always split the development so that it branches out. Then they release controversial sequels.
Can't blame Paradox if no one buys the non-Steam version...
cool, europa universalis 4 incoming! I didn't even realise they were making it.
They probably didn't do themselves any favours by releasing it on Gamersgate only. Despite the amount of exposure it seems to get, GG apparently has a ridiculously poor market share, lower even than GOG and GreenManGaming.

Somebody here linked an article comparing the various stores at one point, but I can't seem to find it.

It was their main revenue before Steam, actually. I bought almost every Paradox game there prior to Steam.

GamersGate turned to absolute shit in last year. Mostly because they are accepting EVERYTHING in their store, no matter if the game is utterly broken and unplayable.

GamersGate was a much cooler place before. Anyone remembers their "wheel of giveaway" on Christmas one year? This was the time when I really liked them.

Isn't that because they crippled the non-Steam version?

Crippled? Never heard anything like that.

They are the same game, they get the same patch at the same time as GG version. It's actually the exact same build.

If it's the game I'm thinking of then there's no multiplayer and no DLC in the non-Steam version.
