It's a tie between Heavy Rain and Breakdown. Heavy Rain for being an absolutely gorgeous and mind blowing experience, and Breakdown being the first cinematic, action adventure game I ever played. Seriously awesome game that deserves an HD remake.
Geez, for me it's a toss-up. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for the action-y type of games, and either Breath of Fire III, Saga Frontier, or Final Fantasy VII for RPG games.

Vice City had a rich, 80's environment, great radio stations, diverse missions, and Ray Liotta.

Breath of Fire 3 was colorful, had a fun battle system with an involved Dragon transformation skill thing, catchy music, good story, etc.

Saga Frontier had lots of interesting characters, huge amount of skills and spells to learn, 7 different stories to play through (I still despise Riki's storyline to this day, though... can't stand monster allies in that game), and I've been waiting for friggin ever for Square/Sony to put it up on PS Store.

And Final Fantasy VII was the first RPG I got for the PS1 and was a great introduction to 3D RPGs, good and epic storyline with twists throughout, somewhat engaging battle/materia system, fun glitches to exploit, and Vincent Valentine.

I don't know which is my favorite, though D:
Yeah, there are plenty of great games but sometimes we do forget those when we are too busy complaining about new ones.

FF VII of course like the above poster. That's a game I never forget. Had it all. Music, great gameplay, Sephiroth (a bit too easy in the end after fighting some underwater hidden megaboss) and story was mature enough and touching and you did control spiky haired dude which was made of blocks. ^^

Metal gear solid 1 and 3 for obvious reasons.

There is probably 3 other games that I usually bring up.

First is Broken sword 1, I've played it 3 or 4 times and it is an adventure game so it did something right. Good looking animation, great characters, fun dialogue, almost logical puzzles. I kinda put that game even above Gabriel Knights (or monkey islands). It is a close one though.

Second one is..

...

Forgot that one..

No I didn't.

Castlevania: Symphony of the night. For a side scrolling mixed bag of rpg, jumping and slashing (and poking) it doesn't get much better. Best Castlevania ever.

Lastly, I'll choose Wild Arms to be my winner (today, tomorrow it's probably one of the others or a new one). Kinda normal old style zelda/final fantasy mix but a bit of western theme. It had awesome music, fun to play and combat was good. Didn't look like much (not bad though) but that's never the point. If I remember correctly, you could switch party member which had some other skill and solve some puzzle and then you got some crappy reward, like opening door. More random battles did came in your way but those weren't annoying. I just have great memories of that game. It also had a parrots which saved game progress.

That's it.
In my opinion is Deponia one of the greatest Adventures ever made.
It has a really long story with nice voice overs and incredible good looking graphics.
Also it plays one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard (I like especially the tracks for the transitions from chapter to chapter).
Deponia really feels like an classical point and click adventure, but also managed to advance and make a already good genre even much more great with many unique characters and locations as well as an big variation in puzzles with sometimes not straight forward riddles, which require to use objects together, which you usually wouldn't think off resulting in very funny situations.
Since The Whispered World is already here, I hope that Deponia also comes to GOG so you can play it as well ^^
Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite game of all time is persona 3.
It is my favorite game because of its story and of course awesome soundtrack.

It's a tie between:

Persona 2: Innocent Sin (orignal japanese version) - Fantastic gaming experience, with a really balls crazy story.
Planescape Torment - Fantastic RPG with a brilliant story as well, really hooked me from when I started playing it way back when it came out and now.
Under a Killing Moon,
Grim Fandango,
Discworld Noir - A great mix of story, humour, and classic film noir themes.
and Discworld - Great story, hilarious and very funny and I love the books.

:P Sense a theme here? :P I love good stories...So hard to just pick one.
Keep them coming, would like to have a few more entries for the giveaway tomorrow morning :)
Favorite RPG: Final Fantasy III (VI) on the SNES. Why? Well... I wouldn't know where to start. Great music, great characterization, and fair gameplay despite the numerous fight bugs. I just knew that I'd never find anything close to being that good ever again (at least on consoles.)

Just... don't talk to me about the GBA port. I can't get very far because they completely botched the audio on tha tone...
